British yacht manufacturer Princess Yachts has announced that the inaugural unit of its S80 series will be unveiled at this year’s Cannes Yachting Festival. The flagship of the S Class range, the S80 was developed in collaboration with naval architects from Olesinski and the renowned Italian design firm Pininfarina.

The S80 features a flexible layout that can be used as either an owner-operated vessel with an open saloon and elevated helm, or as a ‘discreetly crewed’ yacht, offering an enclosed helm that accommodates up to three crew members.

This yacht is designed with a focus on social interaction and a strong connection to the outdoors. The main deck is positioned close to the water, creating a seamless transition between its sunbathing, lounging, and dining areas.

Andy Lawrence, the design director at Princess Yachts, stated: “The design of the elongated, sleek canopy provides shade for the forward two-thirds of this area, with an optional awning covering the remaining part. The saloon’s glazing extends deep into the cockpit, enveloping the forward dining space to offer shelter from the wind while maintaining an unobstructed view.”

High bulwarks with oval stainless steel rails enhance the design, extending beyond the full-length windows that line either side of the cockpit canopy. A large sliding door on the main deck invites guests into the yacht’s interior, which showcases soft, natural materials and includes four en suite cabins on the lower deck.

Above, a 28.7-square-metre flybridge features various seating areas, a wet bar, and a barbecue. This space is also home to a convertible dining table and can double as an outdoor cinema with a drop-down television. Additional highlights onboard include a spacious foredeck, a tender garage, and an electro-hydraulic bathing platform.

The S80 can be equipped with either MAN V12 1,900 or 2,000 hp engines, achieving speeds of up to 34 knots, and featuring an optional 7,000-litre fuel tank for an extended cruising range.

According to BOATPro, Princess Yachts currently has 18 units under construction.
