The Italian shipyard Wider Yachts has announced that its inaugural multihull model, Acali, will debut internationally at this year’s Cannes Yachting Festival.

This 28-metre composite catamaran has been designed in partnership with Luca Dini and is built to RINA class specifications. Notable features include a main deck reserved for the owner, a large beach club, and a hybrid propulsion system.

The WiderCat 92 provides spacious interior volumes due to her 12-metre beam. Specifically, the main deck is allocated for the owner’s cabin and includes a private foredeck lounge that takes up almost half of the total area. The yacht accommodates eight guests across four cabins, along with a crew of four.

With a transom hatch, the tender garage can convert into a generous swim platform, and the 67-square-metre beach club benefits from fold-down bulwarks, offering direct access to the VIP cabin and discreet storage for water toys (including room for a 4.5-metre tender and Jet Ski).

Five units have been sold in less than a year since the WiderCat 92 was first unveiled.

“The WiderCat 92 is a collaborative masterpiece, combining vision, craftsmanship, and advanced technology,” stated Marcello Maggi, head of W-Fin Sarl (the parent company that wholly owns Wider equity). “Every designer, engineer, and craftsman has infused their enthusiasm into this project. As we celebrate this accomplishment, I am confident that, just like our previous successes, the WiderCat 92 will establish a new benchmark in the industry.”

The two hulls were last observed making their way to Fano in January 2023.

Acali features a hybrid propulsion system that collaborates with 150-square-metre solar panels to power both the propulsion system and onboard systems. While at anchor, any surplus power is redirected to recharge the battery pack thanks to a dedicated Battery Management System. For brief durations, the yacht can operate in full-electric mode for silent and vibration-free cruising.

This hybrid arrangement allows a top speed of 15 knots with a cruising range of 3,000 nautical miles at a speed of eight knots.
