The Caribbean Sailing Association (CSA) is excited to unveil the Windies Multihull Trophy, a new championship for the season aimed at incentivizing offshore multihulls to join more Caribbean regattas and offshore passage races for the 2025 sailing season.

The Budget Marine Windies Multihull Trophy will encompass some of the premier events in the Caribbean racing circuit, including the Barbados Sailing Week, the Rum to Spice Race, Grenada Sailing Week, the Caribbean Multihull Challenge, the Antigua 360 Degrees, the RORC Caribbean 600, the St. Maarten Heineken Regatta, the BVI Round Tortola Race, the BVI Spring Regatta, Antigua Sailing Week, and several others.

This championship will feature two categories: multihulls with a length overall (LOA) of less than 60 feet, and those with an LOA of 60 feet and above. Eligible multihulls that have traveled between events under their own power or sail will be automatically registered. Competitors can have their top five scores counted.

Guy Chester, owner of the trimaran Ocean Tribute and the mind behind the Budget Marine Windies Multihull Trophy, shared his enthusiasm, saying, “This is going to be incredible, and I encourage all my fellow sailors to participate in more regattas. Let’s see how many multihulls we can gather on the water.”

Robbie Ferron, the founder of Budget Marine, remarked, “We are enthusiastic sponsors of the first Windies Multihull Trophy. Multihulls have been racing in the Caribbean for many years, and as their popularity grows, a Caribbean regatta series championship will draw more entries into the numerous events.”

CSA President Bastien Pouthier conveyed his excitement about the trophy’s launch, stating, “I am really looking forward to the Budget Marine Windies Multihull Trophy. We have noticed a significant rise in multihulls arriving in the region each season, and we anticipate seeing even more of these vessels participating in events across the region.” As a member of the organizing committee along with other key CSA personnel, he confirmed that the CSA Multihull Rule will apply for all events except the RORC events, which will follow the MOCRA rules.
