The Monaco Yacht Show is the most eagerly awaited event of the Mediterranean season. This year, however, has sparked even more enthusiasm than usual due to a series of remarkable milestones. The largest superyacht in the show’s history – the 122-meter Kismet – will be present, along with the highest number of yachts over 100 meters, including the 111.9-meter Renaissance and the 105.3-meter H3.

To celebrate this record-breaking edition, BOAT reflects on the largest attendees in Monaco Yacht Show history…

Kismet

122m

This year’s Monaco Yacht Show is set to break records with Lürssen’s impressive Kismet in attendance. With an enormous volume of 4,918GT, it features a mosaic-lined pool with a 40-ton capacity, two spa pools, a certified helipad, both indoor and outdoor fireplaces, a full-service spa, a lift, and a gym. Not to mention her intricate paint and marble details or the stainless-steel jaguar bow figure. It’s no surprise that Pascale Reymond, co-founder of Reymond Langton studio, has described her as a “cathedral of design”.

Kismet also marks a first for the German shipyard with her underwater lounge and cinema, boasting extra-large windows (1.1 meters by 2.8 meters) that dip below the waterline. She follows the 95.2-meter World Superyacht Awards winner, now known as Whisper.

Ahpo

115.1m

Which show?

2022

Another creation from Lürssen, Ahpo was named after a term of endearment meaning grandmother. Her design focuses heavily on family, featuring two identical bedrooms with distinct color schemes, designed for the original owner’s twin daughters. Wellness is a key element, with a nature-themed spa, massage room, beauty salon, and a private owner’s gym furnished with red-lacquer furniture and custom dumbbells.

Additional highlights include a mosaic bathroom inspired by Gustav Klimt, a 12-seat cinema, and an aft deck winter garden. Accommodations are available for up to 53 crew members, including two helicopter pilots.

Renaissance

111.9m

Renaissance was constructed by the Spanish shipyard Freire and designed by the legendary Jon Bannenberg, but the design remained on paper for 40 years. The owners approached his son at Bannenberg & Rowell Design when it was time to bring it to life, providing a detailed list of non-negotiables, such as a large gym, high ceilings, plenty of dining spaces, and a very large beach club. The brief was successfully executed with a double-height formal dining room, a sushi bar, and a deck exclusively dedicated to wellness, which includes the previously mentioned gym, a sauna, a ballet bar, and a dedicated hair and beauty salon.

The accommodation comprises 19 cabins, featuring an owner’s deck with a 60-square-meter suite, a media room, and a lounge with a bar and dining area. A private terrace with sun loungers and a Jacuzzi for six is located at the front.

Alaiya

111.5m

Which show?

2019

Alaiya can host 18 guests across nine cabins, with additional quarters for 38 crew members. She was sold after appearing at the show and subsequently underwent an extensive, seven-month refit with Blohm & Voss.

Kaos

110.1m

Which show?

2017

Kaos (formerly known as Jubilee) is one of the most recognizable yachts on the water, featuring a long, sleek, metallic blue exterior designed by Igor Lobanov. The Oceanco yacht looks surprisingly agile for its massive size, thanks to the clever trompe-l’œil effect design that gives the illusion of additional decks, effectively concealing its actual height. Interior details were mostly kept under wraps, but at delivery, it was reported that Kaos had the most marble and stone outfitted in its interior compared to any other superyacht.

The yacht is also known for its swimming pool, located on the largest of the four decks, overlooking an aquarium in the beach club below. In 2023, she was one of the most traveled superyachts thanks to an extensive transatlantic journey that began in St. Barths for New Year’s celebrations and ended at the River Thames in London.

IJE

108m

Which show?

2021

A creation from Benetti, IJE is the flagship of the Italian shipyard’s fleet and a fully custom project. British studio RWD is responsible for both the exterior and interior design, capturing “the soul of an explorer” within a polished superyacht framework.

Consequently, IJE is equipped with three large tenders, eight Jet Skis, and comfortable guest and crew cabins for extended stays in remote locations, as well as an owner’s deck, nightclub, cinema, gym, and beach club. She is also reportedly outfitted with the largest single-point lift crane installed on a yacht. The superyacht barely outmeasures previous flagships Luminosity and Lana by a few centimeters.

Amadea

Which show?

2019

Amadea took just 31 months to complete, from the initial steel cutting, which is a remarkable achievement for a vessel of her size. Exterior design was done by Espen Øino International, while the interiors were styled by Francois Zuretti. Highlights of the yacht include a 4D cinema equipped with a popcorn machine, a hand-painted Pleyel piano, and a spa pool along with a sun pad that can transform into a live stage with built-in speakers, stage lights, and laser beams. The owner’s cabin even features a private terrace complete with a mosaic-lined pool.

This superyacht was seized in May 2022 after her ultimate beneficiary owner was reportedly sanctioned amid the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.

H3

105.3m

Which show?

2024

While she may not have the (literal) edge over Kismet this year, H3 is a record-breaker in her own right as the current world’s most expensive yacht for sale. The superyacht is listed at a staggering €295,000,000 with Edmiston and justifies the price with luxury features including a piano once owned by Elton John – the one on which he composed the album Songs from the West Coast – a large pool with a waterfall, a sprawling spa and wellness area complete with a nail salon, and a climate-controlled winter garden in the owner’s suite.

Her three-year rebuild, which began in 2020, earned her international acclaim and a World Superyacht Award. Virtually nothing remained from her prior existence as Indian Empress except the hull, which has also been extended by an additional 10 meters. BOAT International had an exclusive look at her rebuild last year.
