The Superyacht UK (SYUK) association has initiated a program aimed at encouraging the next generation to consider careers in the marine industry. Its goal is “to raise awareness, inspire, educate, and guide the upcoming talent toward the remarkable careers available in the superyacht sector.”

Superyacht UK will showcase its ambitions at the Southampton International Boat Show, taking place from September 13 to 22, to over a thousand students.

Ben Geary, the chairman of Superyacht UK, is leading the initiative alongside the association’s newly appointed manager, Michael Beattie.

In an open letter to the industry, Geary stated: “We find ourselves at a crucial turning point — where our legacy and future converge. We face a significant yet exciting challenge: to ignite the imaginations of the rising generation. Many of these young individuals remain largely unaware of the marine industry’s existence, let alone the appealing prospects of a career in superyachts.”

Geary added: “I believe that as a sector, we can come together and coordinate our efforts to enlighten and engage these potential trailblazers and future leaders of our industry. Any reluctance or failure to act now will only worsen the recruitment challenges that many of us will face in the years to come.”
