Sportsman Boats has announced that Dometic Marine’s Digital Switching technology will become standard on all boats that are 25 feet and longer from the South Carolina manufacturer.

The Dometic Digital Switching system allows for the management of lights, pumps, batteries, trim tabs, climate control, and other functionalities through a single digital interface instead of multiple physical switches. This innovation enables a tidier, modern helm for customers while also streamlining wiring configurations and lowering rigging costs for the manufacturer.

“Digital switching is undoubtedly the future,” stated Sportsman Boats President Tommy Hancock in a press release. “We consistently strive to be innovative and at the forefront of boat manufacturing. Partnering with cutting-edge companies like Dometic Marine ensures that we remain leaders in marine technology, benefiting both our company and our customers.”

Hancock mentioned that Sportsman Boats began incorporating electronics as a standard feature on all boats roughly four years ago. The Digital Switching Technology allows boat owners to operate their boat’s systems from up to 200 feet away.

With its built-in diagnostics and the redundancy offered by a “get-home” mode, Dometic Digital Switching provides safety and peace of mind for boaters. This technology also works seamlessly with the Optimus EPS Steering system, which is standard on Sportsman models 25 feet and above.

“Reducing moving parts on the boat translates to lower time and labor costs, along with minimizing the risk of wiring errors or switch failures that could present problems for the user. At Sportsman, our aim is to provide the best possible boating experience,” Hancock remarked.

Sportsman Boats’ announcement coincides with Dometic Marine’s rebranding of SeaStar Solutions during the Miami International Boat Show in February. Dometic acquired SeaStar Solutions in late 2017. “With 76 years of commitment to serving boaters, SeaStar Solutions has built a strong reputation for leading technologies in the industry,” noted Eric Fetchko, president of Dometic Marine Americas, in the press release. “As we continue this journey under the Dometic Marine name, we intend to further enhance our business.”
