Support yacht expert Shadowcat has unveiled a catamaran concept measuring 72.8 meters, named Catfish. This design was developed in partnership with T. Fotiadis Design, based in Berlin, who also recently presented a 140-meter trimaran concept to BOAT International. The naval architecture has been executed by Incat Crowther.
Catfish is distinguished by wave-compensation davits capable of operating in 1.5-meter seas, contrary to monohulls “which generally can only launch and recover in harbor conditions.” She can serve as a support vessel for a larger yacht or function as an independent explorer vessel.
The construction of Catfish will utilize marine-grade aluminum.
This “exceptional stability” is enhanced by its capacity to carry and deploy a custom 18.6-meter sportfish, three tailor-made tenders, a seven-person Triton submersible, and an EC135 helicopter from an approved pad and hangar. Commercial offshore davit and crane technology, lifts, and foldable decks will facilitate the handling of a comprehensive array of equipment, which also includes five Jet Skis and a 12.2-meter RIB.
A notable attraction is the “mariner’s den,” featuring a spacious fold-out balcony, lounge, bar, and gyroscopic pool table. A glass-enclosed garage for the submersible and various toys can be seen through the lounge’s roll-up door. Additional highlights consist of a gym, a dedicated spa, and a beach club. The vessel accommodates 10 guests and 19 crew members.
On the support side, Catfish comes with hospital facilities, a chamber room, diver room, fish station, fish freezer, and a bait and tackle shop.
The vessel is anticipated to achieve a top speed of 21 knots, cruising at 14 knots, and has a range of 5,000 nautical miles. Key specifications include a 15.5-meter beam, a draft of 2.45 meters, and a total volume of 2,200GT.
More information will be disclosed at this year’s Monaco Yacht Show.
