The first event of the Bacardi Winter Series 2024/2025 begins this weekend, December 14-15, in Miami, showcasing the J/70 and Melges 24 fleets.
Taking place at Shake-A-Leg in Miami, the regatta will see around fifty teams converge on Biscayne Bay for a thrilling six-race series. The aspiration to participate in the Bacardi Winter Series and be acknowledged among the best sailors globally makes this event a regular attraction for many, featuring impressive competitors coming from North and South America as well as Europe.

Staying true to its reputation, this event draws a varied group of competitors, with top-tier sailors competing against weekend Corinthian teams. In this highly competitive environment, where teamwork is essential, precise timing and consistency will be vital. The Bacardi Winter Series has consistently offered high-performance racing, and this weekend will be no exception. The weather forecast indicates perfect sailing conditions, with temperatures around 80 degrees and a brisk 17-20 knot breeze to challenge the competitors.
Racing is set to commence for the Melges 24 at 11:00 am on Saturday, December 14, followed by the J/70 for the initial three races, with another three races scheduled for Sunday. After the races, the renowned Bacardi hospitality will keep everyone entertained.
Bacardi Race Series
The first Winter Series event marks the beginning of the Bacardi racing season. The adventure continues with Winter Series 2 on January 24-26, 2025, leading up to the finale at the Bacardi Cup Invitational Regatta from March 5-8, 2025. In March, the J/70 and Melges 24 classes will be joined by the Snipe, VX One, and Viper 640 classes. The esteemed Bacardi Cup for the Star Class will celebrate its 98th Anniversary from March 2-8, 2025.
