Power-Pole introduces its nearly silent MOVE Brushless Trolling Motor.

by Gregg Mansfield

Power-Pole’s founder and CEO John Oliverio dedicated ten years to creating the new MOVE Brushless Trolling Motor, which was officially launched in early March.

Lenny Gurvich, international sales manager for Power-Pole, is thrilled about the launch of the trolling motor as it ends his need to field questions at shows like ICAST Fishing about its release date.

“Four years ago, people were eagerly waiting for a trolling motor,” Gurvich remarked. “Our development team was determined to ensure we did it right since we did not want to release a product that fell short of our quality standards.”

Creating a new brushless motor and steering components is a lengthy process, primarily when introducing new technology to the marine sector. Oliverio’s objective was to achieve maximum power while enabling nearly silent performance.

According to Gurvich, the Power Unity System, which combines the brushless motor and Techflow Propeller, results in 30 percent more power than the top trolling motors on the market. What truly distinguishes the MOVE Brushless Trolling Motor from competitors is its groundbreaking shaft.

The shaft, crafted from aerospace-grade titanium, is built to withstand substantial loads. The low-profile bracket showcases Power-Pole’s ported aluminum design, first revealed on the company’s Shallow Water Anchors. Both the bracket and shaft utilize Power-Pole’s Multi-layer Corrosion Resistance Technology, engineered to endure the toughest marine environments. Moreover, even the hinges, locks, and pivot points are over-engineered, as per Gurvich.

“One of the initial things people notice is that we utilize titanium whereas our competitors use fiberglass-composite shafts,” Gurvich stated. “We are incredibly confident in our shaft, which comes with a lifetime warranty. If we detect even a minor bend in the titanium shaft or notice an issue, we will replace it.”

The MOVE trolling motor comes equipped with the essential features anglers expect. These include:

Vector Heading: Maintains a straight course along a bank or off a drift.

Route Following: Anglers can set a route for the motor to adhere to via the Power-Pole application or a compatible device, guided by ProNav.

Compass Heading: The motor steers toward particular compass directions configured by the user.

Anchor Mode: The vessel maintains its present location.

Power-Pole presents two variations of its trolling motor: the MOVE PV for larger boats and the MOVE ZR (with a hinged scissor bracket) for bass boats. Both the PV and ZR models will be available in 45”, 52”, and 60” shaft lengths, with the PV also providing a 72” shaft version. All models will come in either black or white powder-coated finishes.

Both versions for bass and larger watercraft can function with 24- or 36-volt systems and can integrate with Power-Pole’s C-Monster 2.0 wireless connection system. In practical evaluations, the 24-volt version produced 78 pounds of thrust, while the 36-volt system reached an output of 100 pounds.

Pro angler Chris Lane participated in the testing phase and stated that the trolling motor is the lightest and quietest he has ever used.

When paired with the Power-Pole charger, the trolling motor charges while the outboard is in use or can be plugged in at home.

Gurvich mentioned that safety measures were built into the system, allowing the motor to operate even if certain components are compromised. The trolling motor can be charged while the outboard operates or via a home outlet.

“It is also capable of emergency starting, so if your cranking battery loses power, it can draw energy from the trolling motor batteries,” Gurvich explained.

MOVE motors are designed for easy installation, featuring step-by-step instructional videos for both the PV and ZR mounting options. The MOVE trolling motors are also applicable for retrofits.

The MOVE PV model includes two wireless hybrid remotes and a charging cradle. Prices range from $4,999 for the 45-inch shaft to $5,599 for the 72-inch model.

A wireless REALFEEL foot control comes standard with the ZR series, and it can be added optionally to the PV models.

Units have begun to roll out, with full-scale production expected to commence by early summer 2023.

The company has made significant strides since Oliverio dispatched his first trolling motor in 2000. Beyond trolling motors, the company also provides chargers, anchors, spikes, and additional products. Currently, Power-Pole employs nearly 180 individuals across two locations in Tampa, Florida.

“Our goal was to provide a complete package of products for this market,” Gurvich stated. “Now we have solutions for both the front and back of the boat, along with our charging products.”

“(The founder) understood the need to create the best motor available,” Gurvich concluded.
