The three Semi-Finalists from Group A of the Youth America’s Cup have been established after racing in brisk conditions off Barcelona.
Italy, the USA, and Great Britain will face off in the Semi-Final alongside the highest-ranking three from Group B.
Racing also took place in the B Fleet for teams not associated with America’s Cup teams.
The top three competitors from both A and B groups will merge for the Series Semi-Final.
A more favorable forecast was anticipated for Monday in the UniCredit Youth America’s Cup.
Winds of 8-12 knots were predicted to arrive from the South; however, there was a significant (0.8 m) off-axis sea state to challenge the racers. The wind proved stronger than expected, reaching 18 knots, putting the crews to the test, leading to some impressive foiling.
Both A and B fleets raced today, aiming to compensate for lost racing days this series due to poor weather conditions or failure to meet the minimum wind requirement of 7.5 knots.
For a complete replay:
Group A comprises teams linked to those registered for the 2024 America’s Cup, while Group B includes invited teams not connected to an America’s Cup team, culminating in their third day of competition in the elimination series for the UniCredit Youth America’s Cup.
