Racing for Monday in the Puig Women’s America’s Cup has been cancelled due to an unfavorable weather forecast predicting light winds.

The AC40s for Youth and Women’s America’s Cup have a higher minimum wind requirement than the AC75s, and Race Management didn’t feel confident reaching the 7.5kt minimum wind speed.

In the two races held yesterday, Sunday, with winds dying down after the start, only two teams completed the first race, and three teams finished the second race, leaving others to collect points rather than through their finishing positions.

A double session is scheduled for tomorrow, Tuesday, October 8, for the Puig Women’s America’s Cup:

11:00hrs CET start – Group B Qualifying

14:00hrs CET – Group A Qualifying

Yesterday morning, Race Management announced there would be no racing on Wednesday due to forecasts of strong winds. With today’s altered schedule and looking ahead, there’s little difference in wind strength expected between Tuesday and Wednesday. However, Predictwind’s forecast models indicate that winds could surpass the maximum limit on Wednesday afternoon and into the night, easing somewhat on Thursday.

Currently, there is some disagreement among wind models for the weekend when the America’s Cup is set to begin. However, the situation should clarify as the week progresses.

We will keep you updated as more information becomes available.
