The Qatar Airways GKA Kite World Tour featured three Big Air disciplines – TwinTip, Hydrofoil, and Surfboard – along the shores of Jericoacoara, Brazil, from November 5 to 9.
Debuting at this legendary Brazilian kiteboarding location, a total of 57 athletes vied for world champion honors in Hydrofoil and Surfboard categories, while the TwinTip division held a standard World Cup event, contributing to the 2025 season standings.
Hydrofoil Big Air:
The new Hydrofoil Big Air World Champions are Swiss competitor Andrea Zust and France’s Charles Brodel, who has secured his sixth title in Brazil. Zust and Brodel showcased dominance in their respective finals. The women’s podium sees Katerina Salandova (CZE) in 2nd and Francesca Maini (GBR) in 3rd, while in the men’s category, Alex Soto (DOM) takes 2nd place and Finn Flügel (GER) finishes in 3rd place.
Big Air Surfboard:
James Carew from Australia holds onto his Surfboard Big Air world champion title after returning from a year-long injury hiatus. Spanish competitor Lorenzo Casati (ESP) finishes in 2nd place, with Germany’s Keanu Merten taking 3rd as strong contenders in the final; yet, Carew successfully defends his top position.
Big Air TwinTip:
Young Brazilian Mikaili Sol clinches victory in the women’s TwinTip discipline, the only category contributing to the overall rankings for the upcoming year. With a perfect 10 for her final trick, she finishes ahead of Alice Ruggiu (ITA – 2nd) and Pippa van Iersel (NED – 3rd place). France’s Edgar Ulrich captures his first Big Air World Cup event victory, providing him with a solid foundation to advance in the upcoming Big Air events in 2025. His nearest challengers at the next events are Lorenzo Casati (ESP – 2nd) and Finn Flügel (GER – 3rd).
