The inaugural day of the Nacra 17 European Championship is officially underway at the Circolo Velico Sferracavallo! With light winds starting at 9 knots and settling at 7-8 knots, the fleet, comprising 18 boats and 36 sailors, managed to complete two races before the day’s end.
Day 1 Highlights
Following two strategic races in these gentle conditions, here are the preliminary results:
1st Willemijn Offerman & Scipio Houtman (Netherlands)
2nd Ruben & Rita Booth (Australia) (non-European entrants)
3rd Lucas Claeyssens and Eline Verstraelen (Belgium)
4th Margaux Billy & Noah Chauvin (France)
With competitors hailing from 13 nations, these championships are highlighting exceptional talent and competition, as each team adjusts to the delicate conditions of Palermo’s stunning waters.
Looking Ahead to Day 2
Racing will resume tomorrow, with the first race of Day 2 scheduled to commence at 11:00 am. Sailors are preparing for another demanding day, with the leaderboard poised for further changes as they strive for the European championship title.
