The J/30 competitors who participated in the 2024 J/30 US National Championship had an exhilarating experience, enjoying eight races over the three-day event on the Chesapeake Bay, organized by the highly efficient Eastport Yacht Club.

This year, a new champion emerged at the top of the leaderboards. Ralph Riddle’s team, CANNONBALL 2, began the series with a solid 2-3-1 on the opening day, securing their place at the forefront of the rankings. They maintained their momentum, ultimately finishing with a net total of 20 points.

The silver medal was claimed by a team that has consistently reached the podium in previous J/30 North American Championships. The pairing of Bob Rutsch and Mike Costello aboard BEPOP matched CANNONBALL 2’s final day performance, both boats achieving a 1-2-5 finish. Consequently, the BEPOP team secured silver, finishing just 4 points behind with a total of 24 points.

Completing the podium in the bronze medal position was accomplished female skipper Pamela Morris with her boat BUMP! She displayed exceptional performance throughout the series, achieving three top finishes of 1-3-3, concluding with a total of 35 points.
