Following the spectacular Nautor Swan event last month, which hosted an amazing collection of over 100 yachts for the Rolex Swan Cup, the ClubSwan Racing circuit will gather once more from 23-27 October for the eagerly awaited ClubSwan 50, ClubSwan 36, and ClubSwan 42 championship finale at the Swan One Design Worlds.

Palma de Mallorca, a central hub of Mediterranean sailing, will serve as the venue where the World Champions of ClubSwan 50, ClubSwan 36, and ClubSwan 42 classes will be determined. This will also include the crowning of The Nations League and overall circuit champions at the end of a hard-fought yet amicable season of competitive sailing.

“Every team has improved their performance over the past seven months, and I’m confident that this World Championship will be intensely competitive, concluding in the last downwind leg of the final race,” remarked Federico Michetti, Head of Sport Activities. “Palma de Mallorca is the ideal location to wrap up what has been a fantastic season, with memorable races in remarkable locations like Bonifacio and Alghero.”

Camaraderie and increasing global interest

The Swan One Design Worlds will feature sailors representing an impressive 27 nations and territories, underscoring Swan’s expanding global appeal.

At the core of ClubSwan Racing lies the camaraderie and shared experience of Swan ownership, further enhanced by the unique thrill of one-design racing.

British sailor Alistair Ray, now the owner of the ClubSwan 50 Jumunu 7 — a name recognized in The Solent and along England’s southern coast — expresses his enthusiasm to participate.

“We debuted our ClubSwan 50 at the Rolex Swan Cup and had a fantastic experience. Racing this incredible yacht offers much to learn, and Palma will be yet another fantastic opportunity — we are eager to get started,” said Ray, who will have British tactician Ian Budgen assisting him during the races.

Among the newcomers making their appearances is Bravo Team in the ClubSwan 36 Class and the new owners of ClubSwan 42s Glen Ellen (FRA) and Daring Sister (CZE), the latter being a group of veteran Swan owners who have chosen the one-design path.

Competing for world titles, 2024 Trophies, and The Nations League

The 2024 Swan One Design Worlds will feature 28 of the most formidable yachts across ClubSwan 50, ClubSwan 36, and ClubSwan 42 classes, vying for annual World Championship titles and determining The Nations League season winners.

The closely contested ClubSwan 36 title is particularly competitive, with the top three — Cuordileone, Fra Martina, and Gspot — currently holding 26, 25, and 24 points respectively, making it anyone’s game.

The ClubSwan 36 class is also noteworthy for having three Brazilian entries in The Nations League 2024: Bravo Team, Loyalty, and Mamao, with owner Haakon Lorentzen making his return to the circuit. “It’s fantastic to compete in such a competitive fleet and to see other teams representing Brazil! This event is going to be extraordinary,” he stated.

Meanwhile, a young Dutch team returns to compete on Dutch Sail, thanks to the innovative ClubSwan Academy initiative designed to empower young sailors to pursue their dreams of navigating the seas.

“The ClubSwan Academy is a pilot project launched in collaboration with Yacht Club Italiano and Dutch Sail – Royal Netherlands Yacht Club, aimed at enabling aspiring sailors to navigate their ambitions and conquer the seas aboard the ClubSwan 36, competing alongside the Swan One Design family. Our goal is to unlock the potential of each passionate individual, helping them evolve into skilled sailors through a unique platform of experiential and personal growth,” explained Federico Michetti.

In the ClubSwan 50 class, Marcus Brennecke’s Hatari is once again showcasing strong performance, leading the fleet with a narrow three-point margin ahead of Graeme & Raquel Peterson’s Moonlight, setting the stage for a challenging battle for the season title.

Adriano Majolino’s ClubSwan 42 Canopo is enjoying a strong season, with several wins at the Rolex Swan Cup helping her team rise to the top of the overall standings, although Jose Maria Meseguer’s Pez de Abril trails closely behind by only a point.

“As always, the racing has been exceptional at various inspiring venues this season, and we have managed to pull together a great performance,” Majolino remarked. “The camaraderie and teamwork aboard Canopo is remarkable, and we are determined to finish the season on a high note.”

A warm welcome at the Real Club Náutico de Palma

The concluding event of the 2024 ClubSwan Racing season will benefit from the friendly and efficient organization and amenities provided by host Real Club Náutico de Palma, which will also manage race operations and host a variety of social events during the regatta.

The RCNP Terrace will serve as the social hub for the Swan One Design Worlds, hosting the Opening Ceremony, post-race refreshments, daily prize-giving, and the Crew Dinner & Party, providing numerous chances to share racing stories and more.

Onshore, attendees will have the opportunity to trial sail the inaugural unit of Nautor Swan’s new ClubSwan 43, an exciting and innovative addition to the one-design fleet that has already made a significant impression on the Swan community.
