Although the fleet launched on time and waited, prepared to race at any moment during the afternoon, there was not enough wind to start the J Class Barcelona Regatta competition.
At most, there were brief bursts of five to six knots of wind, and Svea, Rainbow, and Velsheda were ready, but the light and unpredictable breeze was insufficient, prompting the race officer to send the J Class trio back to the dock shortly after 1600hrs.
The forecast for Tuesday looks very encouraging, with winds expected to reach 18 or 19 knots. The plan is to conduct two races, which will provide an excellent display for the J Class yachts if the breeze arrives as predicted. The first warning signal is set for 13:00 local time.
