Saturday morning buzzed with activity as 45 boats registered for the GP. Following an informative morning briefing from Race Officer David Nicholls, sailors launched into the racecourse. We enjoyed pleasant autumn sunshine and a consistent breeze!
The tide proved crucial, as sailors departed the weekend with real insights on how 4 knots of tide can influence their racing tactics.
Race One – Brothers Oliver and Will Stratton-Brown from Frensham Pond SC secured the first race win.
Race Two – Ed Stubbs and Ollie Wilson from Lyme Regis SC took the top spot.
Race Three – Another victory for Frensham Pond, with Zoe Lomas-Clarke and Mark Soars claiming first place.
Race Four – In the final race of the day, visitors from the Netherlands, Doeke van Surksum and Sven van Dartel, achieved 1st place.
As Saturday evening approached, the decision was made to cancel Sunday’s racing due to strong winds predicted from Storm Ashley arriving early Sunday morning. Sailors and parents gathered for a social evening at the club, which included a prize-giving ceremony and the AGM.
