Rossinavi has launched its “most innovative project” thus far, the 42.8-meter hybrid-electric catamaran called Seawolf X. After leaving the shipyard in Viareggio, Italy, she is now anchored off the coast of the Greek island of Tinos, as reported by BOATPro.
Fulvio De Simoni Yacht Design is responsible for the exterior design, marking the first collaboration since the 49.1-meter Aurora in 2017. This project also represents Rossinavi’s inaugural venture into multihull designs.
Construction was officially announced at the Monaco Yacht Show in 2022.
A standout feature of this model is its three distinct “performance scenarios.” During one-day excursions, Seawolf X can operate in full-electric mode throughout; on multi-day voyages, it can run on electric power for 90 percent of the time; and on transatlantic journeys, it retains the ability to cruise in electric mode for 80 percent. Additionally, the “hibernation mode” activates when the catamaran is docked, reducing consumption while enabling energy redistribution to the quay or other properties. It can recharge at the dock in five hours and provides enough power to service an entire villa.
Rossinavi has also introduced an onboard AI system, dubbed Rossinavi AI, that analyzes vessel operations, anticipates guest requirements, and communicates with the crew about “lower-impact behaviors” and “conscious cruising.” This AI system is capable of monitoring the battery levels to maintain them between 20 to 80 percent.
The catamaran remains under the 500GT threshold, boasting a beam of 13.8 meters and a maximum draft of two meters.
Its exterior has a low profile akin to a sports car, with Fulvio De Simoni Yacht Design aiming to “free their minds from traditional” catamaran design constraints. The team has included solar panels in Seawolf X and enhanced hull efficiency by utilizing “lightweight solutions,” including a visually appealing anchor setup that meets weight specifications.
New York-based design firm Meyer Davis has designed an interior that “matches the state-of-the-art yacht, showcasing relaxed luxury and sustainable design,” according to the shipyard. The decor draws inspiration from nature, specifically the sun, the sea, and the sand.
She was launched in May 2024.
Leisure features include a welcoming cockpit centered around a pool, a spacious sundeck with areas for sunbathing and relaxation, and a bow area featuring a concealed pool and convertible home theater. Accommodations are available for up to 10 guests in four cabins situated within the hulls.
“After years of research and development, it brings us great pride to see the launch of project Sea Cat, now Seawolf X, the first hybrid-electric multihull vessel,” stated Federico Rossi, COO of Rossinavi. “This yacht exemplifies groundbreaking advances in power management and propulsion technology, outlining a new era in next-generation vessels.”
Seawolf X’s concept design
Seawolf X also features the BlUE label, a “sustainable” design philosophy initiated by the shipyard in 2022. Influenced by phytoplankton, the BlUE fleet captures sunlight throughout the day, employing photovoltaic technology to generate energy. This energy gets stored in advanced batteries and released at nighttime, creating a bioluminescent effect “similar to glowing plankton.”
Seawolf X is available for charter with Cecil Wright starting at €380,000 per week.
