One of the aspects I appreciate about my role as a yachting journalist is the chance to engage with a unique group of creatively adventurous individuals who continuously redefine the limits of yacht design and construction.

This cutting-edge superyacht catamaran from Italian Sea Group stands out from all other catamarans.

In terms of reimagining possibilities, few yachts have generated as much excitement as the 143-foot-long, 47-foot-wide catamaran THIS IS IT, designed by Gian Marco Campanino, Art Director at Italian Sea Group, alongside R&D Centro Stile team Director Mattia Piro and exterior design team Lateral Naval Architects for Tecnomar Yachts.

The highlight is that IYC Global Managing Partner Michel Chryssicopoulos sold and managed the project. “This is certainly one of the most thrilling and groundbreaking projects we’ve ever tackled!” Chryssicopoulos states. IYC is also offering it for charter, allowing anyone (with the necessary resources) to experience this remarkable yacht themselves.

According to Mattia Piro and Gian Marco Campanino of Italian Sea Group, “The stylistic inspiration comes from the automotive industry, focusing on aerodynamic principles, fluid and organic shapes, and flexible, dynamic forms. Naturally, these external design principles carry over to interior aesthetics. Smooth, ‘cocooning,’ and curvilinear describe the interior ambiance, alongside a touch of lavish luxury thanks to the use of exquisite materials.”

The images and exclusive video showcase how the yacht encapsulates the essence of an ultra-modern luxury villa with ample, well-planned living areas.

The yacht’s communal spaces benefit from the catamaran’s broad beam, providing extensive areas for entertaining, dining, and relaxing. Large sliding glass doors open to create a bright and airy environment, ensuring a seamless transition between interior and exterior spaces, allowing guests to enjoy both while staying closely connected to the ocean. The yacht can accommodate 12 guests in six ensuite cabins, including a spacious owner’s suite featuring a private balcony. Additionally, it offers space for 12 crew members.

Extensive glass usage throughout, featuring floor-to-ceiling windows and thoughtfully positioned 11-foot-tall skylights, fills the interior with natural light. The yacht also boasts a panoramic terrace with an impressive vertical garden spanning two decks.

The upper deck features a spa with a dedicated treatment area and sauna, while the swimming pool is located across both hulls on the aft deck. An extendable dock provides ample space for various watercraft, including jet skis, wakeboards, paddleboards, sea bobs, kayaks, sea scooters, and e-foils.

The catamaran offers numerous spaces for group activities, making it an excellent venue for hosting various events. There are multiple dining options, including a galley with polarized glass that grants guests a front-row view of the chef at work. The main saloon bar serves as a central hub for gatherings and celebrations, featuring strategically arranged seating and lounging for larger groups.

Has this type of catamaran sparked a new design trend? I believe so. You’ll have to wait for my upcoming article on the new yachts featured at the Monaco Yacht Show to discover if I’m right!
