Italian craftsmanship traditions integrate with Indian artisanal skills in the newest Tod’s Factory initiative. Celebrated Indian designer Rahul Mishra—famous for his exceptionally detailed designs inspired by India’s vibrant cultural legacy—reinterprets a selection of Tod’s iconic pieces for both genders, incorporating elements of luxury for items that are intended to be showcased.

Mishra states that the Rahul Mishra x Tod’s collection originates from “drawing inspiration from nature, my perpetual inspiration, creating timeless in-house patterns and distinctive greenery that my designs are known for”. Kaarigar artisans were engaged to embellish leather with embroideries reflecting natural elements. On the Tod’s Gommino loafers and mules, these embroideries embody Mishra’s Tree of Life pattern and are woven with silk on black velvet with leather trim for men, while women’s Gommino loafers are additionally made in a metallic nappa leather. Comparable techniques are used for the Di Bag and the Timeless T shoulder bag, enhanced with sequins, crystals, and beads.

Beyond merely incorporating Indian artisanal methods into Tod’s iconic items, the Tod’s Factory project represents a creative exchange. Launched in 2018, it initially collaborated with Italian fashion designer Alessandro Dell’Acqua and has since paired with talents like the late Alber Elbaz, Hender Scheme, and a three-way collaboration with Moncler and Palm Angels. Tod’s Factory grants these creatives access to the brand’s artisans and expertise in Italy’s Marche region, revitalizing classic Tod’s products.

This latest Tod’s Factory edition is undoubtedly a highlight based on its adornments alone. The men’s Gommino loafers would be an excellent evening choice with a suit, while the Timeless T mules offer a simple way to elevate a classic white shirt and jeans combo. When the designs are this stunning, they truly deserve the limelight.

The Rahul Mishra x Tod’s collection is now available in stores and online.
