Pursuit Boats has been quite active in recent years with an expansion of its facility in Ft. Pierce, Florida, and the launch of several new models.
One model that stands out is the S 268, which has taken the place of the C 260 in Pursuit’s range spanning 23 to 46 feet.
“Our Sport Series center consoles are crafted for how people really use their boats, as they want to engage in multiple activities without compromise,” explained Christopher Gratz, Pursuit’s vice president of engineering. “Spending time with family, friends, nature, or even just by oneself is essential, especially now, and you need something that helps you make the most of that time, no matter the day’s activities on the water.”
The S 268 features a large deck that feels considerably bigger than a standard 27-foot center-console boat. Perhaps it’s due to the aft steps on both port and starboard aligning with the twin engines or the retractable rear bench that enhances the overall spaciousness.
Pursuit has designed the console and leaning post to optimize space, allowing ample room to maneuver while reeling in a big catch. The helm is equipped with a Yamaha 6YC display, compass, and trim tab controls but still offers significant space for additional electronics. Most buyers will likely choose a Garmin electronics package featuring a custom panel with a GPSMAP 8612 and a VHF radio. The dash can accommodate two 12-inch Garmin screens comfortably.
Accessing the head compartment is straightforward, thanks to a door that easily swings open. The console comprises a molded fiberglass interior and is equipped with a manual porcelain head along with a 6-gallon holding tank. A stainless-steel sink with a faucet adds to the amenities.
The leaning post is designed to seat two comfortably, with bolsters that slide into position. Below these bolsters, there is a generous locker for a cooler and tackle storage that is conveniently accessible.
The boat is protected by a molded fiberglass hardtop, supported by a sturdy powder-coated frame that eliminates rattling. Pursuit includes a removable three-piece windscreen, though buyers might prefer upgrading to a tempered glass windshield. The hardtop is outfitted with an overhead storage box, LED spreader lights facing forward and aft, and four rod holders.
The helm of the Pursuit S 268 comes standard with a Yamaha 6YC display, compass, and trim tab controls. This model also includes a live well, two 28-gallon fish boxes, and multiple rod holders.
The U-shaped bow seating features backrests that pivot outward, allowing passengers to face forward and enjoy the view while underway. (There are two seats located at the front of the console.) Owners have the option to add a table for dining or convert the bow area into a spacious sun pad.
The S 268 is well-equipped for fishing, featuring a live well with an acrylic lid at the transom, two 28-gallon fish boxes located in the sole, six rod holders, and ample storage under the gunwales for four rods.
This twin-engine model can come with either Yamaha F150 or Yamaha F200 outboards. During a factory test with the Yamaha F200 engines, the S 268 achieved a cruising range of 300 miles at a speed of 27 mph and reached a top speed of 52 mph at 5,975 rpm.
Gratz emphasized that the Sport Series aims to offer center-console models that excel in both functionality and versatility.
“When you step onboard, the overall size and ambience of the boat are striking,” Gratz noted. “The engineering team did an outstanding job of optimizing the space, making her feel impressively large for her dimensions.”
Recently, Pursuit has introduced the S 428, DC 246, and S 358 models. Their exciting new flagship, the OS 445, is set to debut soon.
