Baltic Yachts unveils its first multihull project, a 33-meter (107ft) bluewater cruising catamaran.
With the contract signed in June 2024, the design and engineering phases are progressing well, and construction is set to begin this month with hull moulds being created. The yacht is expected to be delivered by summer 2027.
This initiative marks a significant achievement for Baltic Yachts, which has been at the forefront of producing and developing high-performance, luxurious composite monohull yachts for over 50 years.
The design brief emphasizes an aesthetically pleasing and functional design for a stable and comfortable long-range explorer yacht that can navigate almost anywhere, featuring elegant, streamlined exterior lines, outstanding sailing performance across all conditions, particularly in light winds, and a high level of independence from shore-based services. There is also a strong focus on environmental considerations and sustainable practices that extend to the yacht’s long-term operational footprint as well as the environmental effects of its construction.
‘This will be a true explorer yacht with exceptional comfort, beauty, reliability, and innovative efficiency,’ states Baltic Yachts sales director Kenneth Nyfelt. ‘While adhering to strict weight targets for optimal performance and handling, Baltic Yachts will also provide a level of craftsmanship previously unseen in a multihull.’
The owners have curated a carefully selected team for the design, development, and construction of their yacht, with naval architecture by Olivier Racoupeau, interior design by Jamie Bush, design consultancy by Andrea Chiari-Gaggia, structural engineering by Rivoyre Ingenierie, and Patrick Sassier serving as the owner’s representative.
‘With the Baltic 107 Catamaran, Berret Racoupeau Yacht Design is proud to introduce the multihull into the superyacht realm,’ remarks Olivier Racoupeau. ‘Our dedicated and experienced team quickly recognized the values of Baltic Yachts. With extensive experience in multihulls, it felt natural for us to design this exceptional catamaran, sharing the owner’s vision of elegant lines and performance with spaciousness that allows access to any destination worldwide in utmost comfort.’
‘For our inaugural yacht project, this tech-forward 33-meter catamaran embodies a unique design that showcases inventive functionality with contemporary style, wrapped in a classic combination of warm woods, clean whites, and vibrant sporty colors,’ explains Jamie Bush. ‘Our goal is to create a space that balances sophistication, youthfulness, and timelessness for our adventurous clients. Building on our prior successful collaboration with the owners, we’re inspired by modernist influences and contemporary design to develop a fresh and distinctive aesthetic for this yacht.’
Baltic Yachts was chosen to construct this yacht based on its extensive experience in high-performance superyacht production, diverse in-house skills and capabilities, cutting-edge composite knowledge, exceptional finish quality, and proven record of sustainable innovation.
Key features include pivoting centreboards for unrestricted exploration of shallow waters, minimal noise levels throughout owner and guest accommodations, and panoramic 360-degree views from the saloon. All sailing operations will be managed from the crew areas on the flybridge. The yacht will have notably low energy consumption while at anchor and will be capable of regenerating electricity through her propellers while under sail.
‘Pushing the limits of technical sailing innovation is integral to Baltic Yachts’ identity,’ states Baltic Yachts’ EVP Henry Hawkins. ‘This project offers an exciting opportunity for us to explore new possibilities with partners for their first yacht.’
