Travelers heading to Uttar Pradesh should prepare for mini cruises in Prayagraj and catamaran excursions in Ayodhya and Kashi. The state government’s latest initiative aims to enhance the water-based activity options in these cities to attract more tourists. The Uttar Pradesh State Tourism Development Corporation plans to re-launch the mini cruise and catamaran services after the monsoon season. Catamaran rides will be available in Ayodhya and Kashi, while mini-cruise experiences will be introduced in Prayagraj.

Mini cruises in Prayagraj, catamarans in Ayodhya and Kashi: Essential information

The Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI) has provided fully air-conditioned catamarans for 50 passengers in Ayodhya, while Prayagraj has received two mini cruise boats with a capacity of 30. Kashi has also been equipped with catamarans. Additionally, six motorboats and two rescue boats are now available.
Routine operations are anticipated to start after the monsoon season concludes. The UP government intends to manage these vessels using a public-private partnership (PPP) framework.
Online bookings for speedboats and mini cruises in Prayagraj can now be made. The official Prayagraj Boating website has published details about pricing and further information.
Speedboat (minimum capacity of 3 passengers): INR 150 per person for 7 minutes; INR 2,000 for 30 minutes.
Mini cruise (minimum capacity of 10 passengers): INR 150 per person for 30 minutes.
Banana/sofa ride (minimum capacity of 3 passengers): INR 250 per person for 5-7 minutes.
The Uttar Pradesh Tourism department is upgrading its infrastructure to enhance visitor experiences at its religious, rural, and water-based attractions. The introduction of catamaran boats and mini cruises in Prayagraj, Ayodhya, and Kashi represents a significant advancement in boosting the state’s tourism infrastructure as Uttar Pradesh prepares for the Mahakumbh in 2025.
