Nor-Tech Hi-Performance Boats consistently showcases a solid lineup of performance-driven center consoles at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, and this year’s event, occurring from October 30 to November 3 in South Florida, will be no exception for the Cape Coral, Fla.-based company. Of the six models set to be displayed—two indoors and four outdoors—five are center consoles. Among these is the 390 Sport center console No. 500, which represents a significant achievement for the manufacturer with its flagship offering.

However, Nor-Tech’s highlight, particularly regarding new models on display, will be its 40-foot catamaran featuring quad Mercury Racing 500R outboard engines, named the 4000 Supercat. The company updated the existing hull for this 40-footer and introduced a new deck with seating for up to 10 passengers, a cabin, and a bathroom. The vessel has an 11-foot beam.

“It is rooted in our original design for the 4000 Roadster, indicating a complete offshore boat with a deep tunnel and numerous creature comforts,” stated Trond Schou, the company’s co-founder and president. “We have already received multiple orders for it.”

“It represents a completely different approach compared to what other manufacturers are doing with their outboard catamarans, and we’ve provided it with sufficient power to manage all that weight,” he elaborated.

To facilitate this, the 40-footer comes equipped with a 250-gallon fuel capacity.

The new catamaran model is derived from an existing hull that has been adapted for outboard engines.

“I intentionally tested the boat for the first time fully fueled and loaded with the equivalent weight of 10 individuals,” remarked Peter Roberts, who co-owns Nor-Tech dealer Double R Performance alongside his brother Raymond, located near Toronto, Canada. “It’s genuinely the first outboard-powered catamaran over 30 feet long that has impressed me. It accelerates remarkably when not empty—it picks up speed aggressively when loaded with fuel and passengers—and showcases superior rough-water handling among outboard cats over 30 feet that I’ve encountered.”

Following the show, the cat will head to Double R Performance and will be exhibited outdoors at the docks. Similarly, hull No. 500 for the 390 Sport, Nor-Tech’s best-selling model, will be displayed. The 39-footer will be delivered to its owner, a prominent figure in the high-performance industry who wishes to keep his new purchase under wraps, after the event concludes.

Thanks to a Midwestern Boating Center customer, the builder will also present a 450 Sport center console at the docks. A 340 Sport will complete the outdoor exhibit.

Nor-Tech will showcase a SuperFish center console, though the builder has yet to confirm whether it will be a 39-foot or 45-foot variant, within the convention center. In a first, the company will also feature a 400 SS center console at the indoor location.

“Previously, we have exhibited our center consoles set up for angling within the convention center,” noted Henrik Margård, the company’s chief operating officer. “We aim to present the 40 to a new audience, so we opted to bring it indoors.”

Trond Schou remarked regarding the new model, “It is built on our original idea for the 4000 Roadster, this means a complete offshore boat with a deep tunnel and numerous creature comforts.”
