The captain of Holcim-PRB has kicked off his first Vendée Globe with a remarkable achievement, breaking the 24-hour speed record. On the race’s second day, Nicolas chose a westerly route compared to the rest of the fleet. He has covered 546.60 nautical miles in 24 hours, equating to 1,012.30 km, showcasing the remarkable capabilities of Holcim-PRB.
This vessel previously held the crewed 24-hour distance record, having covered 640.48 miles during the 5th leg of The Ocean Race in 2023 at an average speed of 26.68 knots.
Nicolas Lunven has now eclipsed the record set by Thomas Ruyant in the Retour à la Base event (540 miles). This accomplishment underscores his standing as an outstanding navigator and sailor.
