GX Superyachts is the creation of the team behind Greenline Yachts, which has been crafting efficient hybrid yachts up to 58ft for over 15 years. Leveraging their experience in cutting-edge hybrid propulsion, intelligent hull design, and solar charging, Greenline has taken a bold step into the superyacht sector. The outcome is a series of custom yachts measuring 24-56m that provide captivating design and remarkable comfort. Furthermore, the new brand fully embodies Greenline’s foundational principle of responsible yachting. The new GX superyachts promise to establish a new standard in environmental performance, centered around Greenline’s distinctive serial hybrid drive and powerful solar arrays integrated into the yacht’s structure.

A new milestone for Greenline

“Our journey began with Greenline Yachts, where we launched the world’s first serial production hybrid yacht over 10 meters back in 2008,” said yard owner Vladimir Zinchenko. “With over 1,000 yachts delivered worldwide, Greenline has consistently led innovation in the boating industry. Throughout this time, we have pursued our vision of responsible yachting—from the sourcing of raw materials to the yacht’s operation itself.” Starting this year, the shipyard will continue this mission under the new GX Superyachts brand.

GX Superyachts has also appointed Andrea Armas as a consultant to the Board of Directors. Andrea brings 28 years of experience as an owner’s representative for major international shipyards and will serve as an advisor to the Board. He is a naval architect and marine engineer specializing in yacht building supervision for discerning owners. “I am supporting GX Superyachts because I appreciate their ambition and vision,” he stated. “My aim is to assist the team in translating their decade-long experience in hybrid recreational boat building into the highly regulated superyacht sector.”

The concept of extending Greenline’s commercial and environmental success into the superyacht sector originated at a previous Monaco Yacht Show in 2018, when Greenline’s all-electric 9.99m yacht attracted the attention of His Serene Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco. The idea ignited that day has now come to fruition with the launch of GX Superyachts.

One of the most significant decisions for the GX Superyachts team was the choice of where to build the new yachts. Greenline specializes in composite construction, with facilities in Slovenia capable of accommodating yachts up to 24m in length. Consequently, considerable thought was given to selecting a new build partner for larger aluminum yachts. After evaluating more than 20 shortlisted yards, GX ultimately chose the custom specialist SES Yachts in Tuzla, Turkey. “There’s no better time to launch this project than now, as we celebrate the 50th anniversary of our activities,” said Elif Yıldırım, Managing Partner of SES. “We embrace custom and semi-custom projects, and the new GX Superyachts range perfectly matches our in-house skills. Moreover, we understand and share the principles behind the brand, as we are a family-owned business similarly committed to sustainability. Collaboration on the first model has been very smooth, and we look forward to building more yachts with GX.”

GX Superyachts in detail

“Each yacht in our GX Superyacht range is equipped with our innovative hybrid propulsion system, allowing for both efficient electric cruising and powerful diesel performance when needed,” explained Chief Commercial Officer Luca Raumland. “At 6 knots in electric mode, these yachts can cover an impressive range of up to 100 nautical miles. In diesel mode, they can cross the Atlantic at 12 knots, with a maximum range of 11,571 nautical miles at 6 knots.”

In comparison to a conventional yacht, the GX range will emit less than 40 percent of the carbon emissions—a remarkable achievement at this scale. These drastically lower emissions are significant, but they are not the entire story. Similar to Greenline Yachts, GX Superyachts are designed with a comprehensive solar array and a substantial lithium battery bank that allows the yacht to remain silently anchored for 48 hours or more. During this period, all hotel systems, including air conditioning, can run off the batteries without the need to activate a generator. The result is an experience free from noise, vibration, or combustion smell.

Each model is available in two variants. The Coupe features a long, curved superstructure topped with shining solar panels that slide open at the press of a button, revealing a spacious hidden sun deck complete with a jacuzzi and bar. The RPH version boasts a large flybridge with an uncompromising modern aesthetic and 353 gross tonnes of volume. Both variants are equipped with an expansive beach club that includes fold-down wings and a hydraulic platform.

GX Superyachts collaborates with some of the most renowned names in yacht design. Marco Casali (Too Design) is responsible for the stunning exterior lines of the new range, which combines an efficient low-profile superstructure with exceptional interior volumes. Casali has also utilized his expertise to create an interior that fulfills the promise of those lines, crafting a cohesive space that flows seamlessly from the generous aft decks to the main salon and up to the flybridge. His design for the first GX42 draws on the finest specialized brands globally. For example, the yacht’s bathrooms feature Antonio Lupi porcelainware and Dornbracht faucets. Loose furniture is sourced from Poltrona Frau and Rugiano, complemented by exquisite Foglizzo leather and natural wood flooring from Cadorin.

“Our studio has a long history of collaboration with Greenline Yachts, so we clearly understood the requirements of the new GX Superyachts brief,” said Marco Casali. “I am proud of how we have reimagined the timeless look of the smaller yachts to infuse soul and purpose into the lines of the new superyachts. It is truly a pleasure to oversee both the exterior and interior design, resulting in a beautifully harmonious finish. The challenge of sustainability is particularly important to me.”

On the technical side, Francesco Rogantin of NAMES studio has designed an underwater hull that maximizes both stability and speed potential. This design is a key component behind the impressive range of a GX Superyacht, even at respectable cruising speeds. “It felt like a very natural partnership since the shipyard had a clear vision: a hyper-efficient and stable displacement hull,” concluded Rogantin.
