The Turkish yard Mengi Yay has announced the delivery of the first unit in its sub-500GT Serenissima I (S1) series. According to BOATPro, she is presently en route to Valletta, the capital city of Malta, and will soon debut at this year’s Monaco Yacht Show.
Designed by the Italian firm Nuvolari Lenard, the 47.5-meter yacht was commissioned by a seasoned owner seeking the deck and interior space of a larger vessel in a Mediterranean-friendly package, featuring “showstopper features” such as an elevator, a dedicated owner’s deck, and an expansive sundeck.
The S1 model sports a steel hull and aluminum frame, specifically designed for both range and speed. With naval architecture by the Dutch studio Van Oossanen Naval Architects, the yacht’s stable and efficient hull form allows for a range of 4,000 nautical miles at a speed of 12 knots.
“Her lines do convey a certain masculinity, featuring a robust, high bow and a distinctive aft highlighted by a transformer platform and water sports area,” said Dan Lenard, designer and co-founder of Nuvolari Lenard. “However, she also includes graceful, feminine touches from her sleek, elegant profile to her tranquil interior design.”
Construction commenced in 2022.
The interiors have been designed by the Nuvolari Lenard team, with “artistic direction” provided by Valentina Zannier. Renderings feature a warm, colorful aesthetic, incorporating wooden colonnades and bronze accents. Floor-to-ceiling windows add a sense of airiness to all living areas.
Guest accommodations comprise four cabins, with two of them convertible into a VIP suite through a movable partition. The owner’s deck is situated on the bridge deck, featuring an aft-facing suite, an en suite bathroom with “grand vistas,” and a private terrace sheltered under the sundeck overhang, ensuring versatility in all seasons.
As per the shipyard, the sundeck is “one of the largest in this category of yachts,” featuring a sunbathing area at the rear, a mini pool with views toward the bow, and a fully sheltered lounge area. The model also includes a main saloon complete with a balcony and a wine cellar.
The beach club and cockpit are fully enclosed, with the cockpit arranged to include sofa seating, a bar, and folding bulwarks. A retractable 2.6-ton crane has been installed, capable of handling a large tender or car. There is also ample storage for diving equipment, a 7.2-meter guest tender, two additional tenders, and a Jet Ski.
The yacht is currently available for sale through Northrop & Johnson.
The S1 model is one of four recently launched superyachts under the NL brand, which includes a 52-meter NL 50 Plus model and two larger models referred to as the NL 60 Plus and NL 65 Plus.
The first 52-meter NL 50 Plus model is currently under construction, while the other two larger models remain in the design stage.
