The Turkish shipyard Ares Yachts has introduced a new 54-meter explorer yacht concept called Atlas.

Designed to stay below the 500GT limit, Atlas features “genuine go-anywhere capability” with options for hybrid propulsion and solar panels to lessen its environmental footprint.

The yacht’s exterior lines were crafted by the Italian design studio Hot Lab, combined with naval architecture by Van Oossanen, which includes a Fast Displacement Hull Form (FDHF). Atlas is distinguished by its sharp, angular lines and a high bow designed to handle challenging sea conditions.

“We have always believed that each project should introduce some small innovations: this is what we refer to as ‘incremental innovation’,” explained Antonio Romano, business director and co-founder of Hot Lab and commercial director of the Viken Group. “What is lacking in an explorer yacht around 50 meters? That was the guiding principle behind Atlas.”

A notable feature is the mezzanine structure at the bow, which provides the owner’s cabin with unobstructed views. Additional features include four guest suites with direct access to the beach club, a private foredeck, and a spa pool. The engine room is situated forward to maximize space for guests and crew.

Atlas would also offer storage for tenders and toys, as well as an optional touch-and-go helipad.

The concept is designed to achieve a top speed of 17 knots and a cruising speed of 11 knots, with a range of nearly 5,000 nautical miles.

Ares Yachts has one yacht currently under construction, the 62-meter Simena. This sailing yacht is the shipyard’s flagship and is scheduled for delivery in March 2025.
