John Cosker, the owner of Mystic Powerboats, has enjoyed success at Lake of the Ozarks, whether participating in the Shootout or expanding the Mystic brand on the central Missouri lake.
Debuting the new M5200 center console there made perfect sense, especially with large crowds present for the Lake of the Ozarks Shootout in late August.
“Our phones have been ringing non-stop as we did a (photo) shoot with it this morning,” said Cosker. “We’re receiving videos from customers living on the water showing the boat passing by. The reception for the 52 has been excellent here.”
The M5200’s bow showcases three separate sculpted lounges ahead of the console alongside a U-shaped bench.
At 52 feet, this model is the largest in Mystic’s center console portfolio, which also includes the M3800 and M4200 models. The M5200 boasts an impressive 14-foot beam and is powered by four Mercury Marine Verado 600 outboard engines. Mystic provides options for 450-hp outboards arranged in four, five, or six-engine setups.
“I’d find it hard to build a boat without quad 600s on this one,” he remarked.
Developed over two years at a customer’s request, the M5200 was inspired by a previous build— a 60-foot center console with outboards sent to Dubai. Cosker agreed to construct a 52-footer, and the demand has been significant. Alongside the prototype, the next four units are already reserved, he confirmed.
The inaugural M5200 features four Mercury Marine Verado 600 outboard engines.
This first M5200 was equipped with luxurious seating, featuring three individually sculpted lounges at the bow and a U-shaped bench. Beneath the spacious carbon-fiber hardtop, made in-house at Mystic’s Florida facility, are two rows of bucket seats, accommodating four people each, and protected by a large wraparound windshield. A long bench seat is also available at the stern.
“We can customize the layout from the windshield back, creating a sizable open area,” Cosker mentioned, adding that options for a grill, refrigerator, and ice maker can be included upon request.
Below deck, the M5200 offers a full cabin with air conditioning, featuring a forward berth suitable for dining or entertaining. The aft cabin provides sleeping space for guests or children.
“This boat lets you travel a couple hundred miles in a day and stay overnight on board,” Cosker explained. “It’s certainly designed for offshore adventures and travel. Our theme really revolves around adventure—where do you want to take the boat today?”
The Mystic M5200 stands as the largest center console in the company’s offerings.
Its construction parallels that of Mystic’s 38- and 42-foot models, utilizing all foam core construction with infused epoxy and carbon-fiber reinforcements integrated throughout the vessel. The hardtop blends seamlessly with the aluminum supports, highlighting the meticulous craftsmanship of the M5200.
Launching the M5200 in late August was a significant moment for Cosker, who considers Lake of the Ozarks a second home.
“This marks my 20th year attending the Shootout here,” Cosker noted. “We launched this boat in the same spot we debuted the Tencara, the first boat we used in the Shootout. It feels a bit like a homecoming for a new product.”
