Reportedly, singer-songwriter Alicia Keys and her spouse, rapper and music producer Swizz Beatz, spent over US$20 million on this estate.
As per the Wall Street Journal, Keys and Swizz Beatz, whose real name is Kasseem Dean, acquired the property after it had been listed for around a year. The selling price of US$20.8 million was approximately US$10 million lower than its initial asking price of US$30 million when it first hit the market last summer.

According to Architectural Digest, the house incorporates four bedrooms, a library, a cinema, two steam rooms, a living room with a fireplace, and a bespoke Ralph Lauren pool table. The property is located on a cliff overlooking the ocean.

The entire structure is also predominantly glass, allowing for stunning views of the coastline. Keys’ most recent studio album, “Here,” was released in 2016. In recent years, she has judged NBC’s “The Voice” and has sold over 60 million albums. When entertaining, Campbell uses twin voile-curtained pergolas as an ideal setting for large family-style dinners. This stylish entertaining space features her beloved Makuti-thatched roof made from sun-dried coconut palm leaves alongside soaring cathedral ceilings. She has hosted opulent parties for numerous friends, as well as industry peers from fashion and entertainment.

Kelly Hoppen, CBE (Commander of the British Empire), stands out as one of the select designers capable of revitalizing Boy George’s magnificent three-story Gothic mansion. In an interview with Introspective magazine, Hoppen revealed that after experiencing her expansive London home and falling in love, the pop star—known for hits like “Karma Chameleon” and “Do You Really Want to Hurt Me”—sought her design expertise.

While differing in style, George’s residence was built in the 1860s and features remarkable period details like restored stained-glass windows, wrought iron railings, and vaulted ceilings. He has occupied the home for nearly 40 years, having purchased the Hampstead mansion in 1984 as his fame began to rise. Recently, he listed the mansion for sale, reportedly seeking GBP 17 million (US$29.6 million).
It was crucial to highlight George’s impressive artwork collection during the redesign. Using numerous pieces created by the singer and DJ, Hoppen incorporated “pops of color and playfulness throughout the home, adding new depth and dimension to the neutral palette.” The singer described his collection as both “vibrant” and “expansive.” The interiors exude a modern gloss thanks to solid ceramics and soft grey Italian marble accents that complement the artwork.
To create an engaging contrast between the historic and the contemporary, Hoppen ensured the house’s Gothic vaulted ceilings and intricate staircase balustrades remained central features. The pillared archways that define the living and dining spaces, where George enjoys reading and writing, are as striking as the magnificent spiral staircase at the heart of the home.

Brightly colored, neon artwork adorns the estate, including the comfortable living room featuring a black Tamo wood coffee table and a fish-eye mirror on the wall. Hoppen introduced bold, clean, curvy forms and neutral-colored furnishings throughout the house to balance the Gothic elements.
The kitchen combines a grey marble countertop with whimsical yellow cabinetry for a bright contrast. An exposed brick wall and soft ivory cabinets add a modern touch. Natural light pours in through floor-to-ceiling windows, showcasing a lovely garden.
Martha Stewart’s Maine Home

Martha Stewart has affectionately dubbed her second home with a royal name. Her stunning vacation retreat, “Skylands,” was initially developed in 1925 as a summer residence for the family of Edsel Ford, an automobile magnate. The latest edition of Architectural Digest, set to release in New York and Los Angeles on Tuesday, features it.
Architect Duncan Candler designed this three-story, twelve-bedroom estate on 63 acres with views of Seal Harbour on Mount Desert Island in Maine. The path leading up to the hilltop home is steep and winding, tracing the scenic shoreline and culminating at a pink-granite gravel drive adjacent to Acadia National Park. When Stewart bought the property in 1997, nearly everything remained untouched, including the kitchen’s vintage Frigidaire refrigerators and the Fords’ silver, glassware, china, and linens. This house quickly became her “favorite place,” she noted.

Known for her gardening skills and earthy aesthetic, it’s no surprise that Stewart has cocooned the house in lush vegetation, including firs, spruces, maples, ferns, and kiwi vines, with the greenery embracing the main structure. RuPaul Andre Charles and Martyn Lawrence Bullard represent a remarkable client-designer duo akin to historic partnerships like Carlos de Beistegui with Emilio Terry. RuPaul, the drag queen icon, is a globally renowned performer and a dazzling presence. Bullard, consistently featured on the AD100, is celebrated for his unapologetic yet often avant-garde aesthetics and is no stranger to enchantment in his work.
It’s no surprise that the Drag Race phenomenon and his husband, rancher Georges LeBar, enlisted Bullard, a lifelong friend, to transform their newly acquired Beverly Hills mansion into something extraordinary. RuPaul shared, “We trusted Martyn because we’ve always loved his style.” He added, “I encouraged him to go wild. I can go as far as he envisions us going.
And he really pushed the boundaries. Bullard worked his magic, transforming a lavish but somewhat uninspiring 1980s home into a vibrant Hollywood Regency masterpiece that harmonizes classic Beverly Hills elegance with RuPaul’s bold personality. “I couldn’t imagine a more suitable setting for the world’s drag mother to host her court,” the designer remarked, deeming it the ultimate stage for a global superstar.

By modifying the mansard roof, rearranging colonnades and railings, and adding neoclassical details, Bullard, in conjunction with architect Christopher Hatch McLean, completely revamped the house’s aesthetics. When it comes to dramatic decor, the experience begins as one enters the grand, powdery-rose entrance hall, adorned with an elegant staircase reminiscent of “Mommie Dearest.”
The formal living room, located to the right, boasts jewel-toned textiles and pagoda-like design elements honoring legendary decorator Tony Duquette. Opposite that, the striking ballroom is a spectacle featuring an array of enormous disco balls and portraits of iconic celebrities like Dorothy Dandridge, Grace Jones, Eartha Kitt, and Billie Holiday. A tondo featuring a 1975 image of Diana Ross by Harry Langdon crowns a uniquely designed fireplace that nods to the influences of Dorothy Draper, one of Bullard’s inspirations.
Despite its extravagant size and spectacle, one might expect the ballroom to host grand parties with throngs of stars. As it turns out, that’s not the case. “I don’t host big gatherings at my home; I do that on television,” RuPaul clarifies, expressing a preference for small dance parties and close get-togethers with friends. “Living a public life necessitates boundaries.” Nonetheless, there are various spaces for elegant gatherings, most notably an outdoor dining area adorned with striking black-and-white stripes, fruit trees, topiaries, and chairs inspired by the renowned Elsie de Wolfe, another significant influence on Bullard. “The striped design is meant to evoke a tent-like ambiance. The space comes off as an orangery, though technically, it’s more of a kumquatery,” muses the designer.

RuPaul’s favorite shade, orange, also colors the nearby kitchen and breakfast area, as well as the entertainer’s lacquered office and opulent master suite, which includes a claw-foot daybed worthy of Joan Crawford, draped in orange velvet beneath a chandelier reminiscent of Dorothy Draper’s signature plaster drapery. “The bedroom is incredibly glam, romantic, yet oddly possesses a certain masculinity,” states Bullard. Two spacious closets hold the entertainer’s extensive collection of suits and gowns, with one designated for male clothing and the other for drag. “Stepping inside feels like entering Bergdorf’s, the chicest boutique imaginable,” RuPaul describes the colorful closets.
Landscape architect James Hyatt redesigned the garden to amplify the quintessential Beverly Hills grandeur with a collection of drought-resistant plants while adding a graphic zellige-tiled spa nearby the pool. This Tinseltown Shangri-la is truly perfect, elegantly capturing the extraordinary intersection of their visions. “This house serves as a touchstone, reminding me to inspire people to feel the elusive magic that’s hard to grasp these days,” RuPaul affirms. “It’s intended to be whimsical and fun. None of it should be taken too seriously—except for love and kindness.
