When Tiffany & Co. unveiled the Tiffany Titan by Pharrell Williams collection in May, it seemed to lack a certain essence of Williams. Don’t get me wrong—the initial launch showcased remarkable creativity in jewelry design. The spear-shaped links provided a modern twist on gold chains popularized by rappers since the ’80s, and Williams creating such a piece for a brand like Tiffany is groundbreaking. Still, something felt slightly off.
Williams is undoubtedly a versatile talent; he is a Grammy-winning artist and producer, a designer, a co-founder of the streetwear label Billionaire Boys Club and its sub-brands, and, of course, the creative director for Louis Vuitton menswear. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Williams stands as a fashion icon known for his distinctive style. He understands accessorizing, often wearing multiple necklaces, and is particularly fond of pearls. Whether it’s a simple strand of nacre or a bold multi-layered Chanel piece, he wears them effortlessly.
The newest release from Tiffany Titan by Pharrell Williams seems more reflective of his style, particularly with the addition of freshwater pearls. And let’s not overlook the diamonds.
(TIFFANY & CO.)“The inspiration for the collection stems from my love for water; the name ‘Titan’ is derived from Poseidon, the sea’s ruler and King of Atlantis. ‘Atlantis’ is also the name of my community in Virginia Beach where I was raised,” Williams states. “In Japan, it was believed that pearls were formed from the tears of mythical water beings; thus, my attraction to them embodies this connection to water.”
High-lustre freshwater pearls measuring over 11mm enhance every piece, providing elegance and sophistication to the collection. The size of the pearls alone ensures these latest designs make a bold statement. Even in its simplest form—with a pendant showcasing a single orb seemingly pierced by the collection’s spear-shaped motif adorned with diamonds on an adjustable gold chain—the jewellery captivates attention instantly.
The focus is certainly on the pearls. Instead of the spear-shaped links, the collection’s bracelet and necklace feature alternating pearls and gold spike rondelles, while a trio of spear-shaped links serves as clasps for each piece, with the center link embellished with diamonds.
“This new design creates a harmonious contrast. They complement each other; the spear is audacious and daring, while the pearls are delicate and precious, yet they coexist beautifully. They seem to protect one another,” Williams explains. The same can be said for Williams—the embodiment of contrasts across various fields and styles. Just as he described, this version fits seamlessly.
The second release of the Tiffany Titan by Pharrell Williams collection is now available at Tiffany & Co. stores and online.
