Kojiro Shiraishi is the captain of the IMOCA DMG MORI for the Vendée Globe. At just 26, he made history as the youngest sailor to finish a non-stop solo circumnavigation, and he has achieved 2nd place twice in the solo BOC Challenge.
Additionally, he is a huge Star Wars enthusiast, with Obi-Wan Kenobi being his favorite character.
This marks his third participation in the Vendée, having previously competed in 2016 and 2020. On February 11, 2021, he became the first Asian sailor to complete the Vendée Globe, placing 16th overall.
With the same boat, upgraded with new foils, he is striving for a top 8 finish this time around.
Ambre Hasson conducted an interview with Kojiro through a translator in Les Sables d’Olonne to learn more, while Kojiro inquired about Ambre’s Mini Transat campaign!
