Italian shipyard Rossinavi has showcased the interiors of the 42.8-meter Seawolf X after its debut at this year’s Monaco Yacht Show. This hybrid-electric catamaran is described as Rossinavi’s “most innovative project to date” and is currently docked in Viareggio, Italy, according to BOATPro.
The exterior design is credited to Fulvio De Simoni Yacht Design, representing the first collaboration between the two since the 49.1-meter Aurora in 2017. This also marks Rossinavi’s inaugural multihull venture. The interiors, designed by New York-based Meyer Davis, emphasize “relaxed luxury and sustainable design.” The decor draws inspiration from nature, particularly elements like the sun, sea, and sand.
“Seawolf X allowed us to create something genuinely distinct for the yachting industry – a catamaran that’s elegantly designed while being sustainable,” said Will Meyer, co-founder of Meyer Davis. “Rossinavi’s commitment to conscious design inspired us to use natural materials and thoughtful details. We incorporated subtle, refined touches that create a warm and sophisticated atmosphere in interiors meant for enjoyment.”
A notable feature of the Seawolf X is its three “performance scenarios.” On day trips, it can operate in full-electric mode 100% of the time; on multi-day journeys, it can cruise on electric power for 90%; and on transatlantic voyages, it maintains 80% electric cruising capability. When moored, a “hibernation mode” minimizes consumption, allowing generated energy to be returned to the quay or a private residence. The catamaran can recharge at the dock within five hours and produces enough energy to power a villa.
Construction was confirmed to have started at the Monaco Yacht Show in 2022.
The catamaran is under the 500GT threshold, with a beam of 13.8 meters and a maximum draught of two meters.
Rossinavi has also introduced an onboard artificial intelligence system, named Rossinavi AI, to evaluate the vessel’s operations, anticipate guest needs, and communicate with the crew regarding “lower-impact behaviors” and “responsible cruising.” The AI system also monitors the battery to maintain its charge between 20% and 80%.
With a low-profile exterior reminiscent of a sports car, Fulvio De Simoni Yacht Design aimed to “liberate their minds from preconceptions” surrounding catamaran design. The team incorporated solar panels into Seawolf X and enhanced hull efficiency by developing “lightweight solutions,” including an anchor setup that aligns with weight standards while improving aesthetics.
She was launched in May 2024.
Leisure features include a sociable cockpit around a pool, a spacious sundeck with lounging and living areas, and a bow space that offers a hidden pool and convertible home theater. Accommodations are provided for up to 10 guests in four cabins located within the hulls.
“After years of research and construction, we take great pride in witnessing the launch of project Sea Cat, now Seawolf X, the first hybrid-electric multihull vessel,” stated Federico Rossi, COO of Rossinavi. “This yacht exemplifies remarkable technological advancements in power management and propulsion systems, signaling the start of a new era in next-generation vessels.”
Seawolf X is also endorsed by the BlUE label, a “sustainable” design approach introduced by the shipyard in 2022. Modeled after phytoplankton, the BlUE fleet captures sunlight during the day and uses photovoltaic technology to convert it into energy. This energy is stored in advanced batteries and released at night, producing a bioluminescent effect “similar to glowing plankton.”
Seawolf X is available for charter through Cecil Wright, with rates starting at €380,000 per week. Read More / Rossinavi “changes fashion” with its first multihull superyacht.
