The Dutch shipyard Heesen has officially unveiled its latest project: Project Orion, a stunning 50-meter motor yacht constructed at their facility in Oss, Netherlands. Delivery of the vessel, also referred to as YN 20750, is expected in spring 2025.
Design and Exterior Highlights
- Exterior Styling: Designed by Frank Laupman and his team at Omega Architects, Project Orion boasts sleek, modern lines complemented by expansive glass features.
- Fast Displacement Hull: Developed by Van Oossanen, the FDHF (Fast Displacement Hull Form) ensures efficient cruising performance while maintaining exceptional comfort.

Luxurious Interiors and Guest Accommodation
The interior design, crafted by Cristiano Gatto, strikes a perfect balance between comfort and luxury:
- Guest Accommodation:
- 12 guests across six cabins.
- An owner’s suite at the forward part of the main deck.
- A full-beam VIP cabin on the lower deck.
- Materials Used:
- Over 35 types of high-gloss woods, woven leather, marble, and custom carpets create a modern and elegant ambiance.
- Expansive windows and low bulwarks maximize natural light and ocean views.
Notable Features Onboard
- Wellness Area (26 sqm):
- Includes a sauna, gym, day head with a shower stall, and direct access to the swim platform.
- Sundeck Design (77 sqm):
- Whirlpool and sun pads at the bow for privacy.
- Removal of loungers creates a party space with a wet bar, dining table under a hardtop, and relaxation areas at the stern and bow.
- Hybrid Propulsion and Efficiency:
- Equipped with two MTU 12V 2000 M61 engines (IMO III compliant).
- Fuel Efficiency:
- At 12 knots, fuel consumption is 98 liters per hour (excluding hotel load).
- At 10 knots in hybrid mode, fuel consumption drops to 45 liters per hour.
- The hybrid system enables silent cruising, ideal for eco-conscious and luxurious voyages.
Technical Specifications
- Draft: 2.1 meters (shallow for greater cruising flexibility).
- Volume: Under 500 GT for efficiency and compliance.
- Engines: Two MTU engines with 600kW output each.
