Dutch shipyard Heesen has launched the 55-meter superyacht Serena from its facilities in Oss, the Netherlands, during a ceremony that the owners and their family attended. This superyacht is the seventh in the shipyard’s 55-meter Steel series and the second to feature a redesigned exterior.
Serena was sold to her “experienced owner” in 2022 after construction began on speculation. The buyer was introduced by Arcon Yachts in Monaco, with the firm representing the owner throughout the construction process.

The yacht showcases several styling changes that differentiate her from her sisterships, such as Vida and Moskito, including the elimination of mullions in the saloon and skylounge, concealed crew access to the sundeck, and a square-shaped Jacuzzi. Her redesigned exterior is credited to Omega Architects.
Additional design alterations for this new series model comprise a bolder profile created through the use of continuous tinted glass panels and a French balcony in the owner’s suite.
This new 55 Steel design also boasts larger exterior deck spaces for enhanced functionality, including extra stairways for improved crew access. Onboard highlights consist of casual alfresco dining areas, an expansive sundeck featuring a whirlpool and wraparound bar, as well as a generous private owner’s suite with walk-in wardrobes. The accommodation can host 12 guests in five cabins.
Project Serena is currently slated for delivery in the last quarter of 2024.
Luca Dini is tasked with designing the yacht’s interiors, where the accommodation layout features the owner’s cabin on the main deck, a large VIP cabin on the wheelhouse deck, and four guest cabins below deck. Special focus was given to the height of seating arrangements and the use of practical, user-friendly materials, with the interiors showcasing velvet finishes, smoked eucalyptus, and Amazonite marble inlays.
The main saloon includes a bronze-finished bar serving both the main deck aft and the lounge, with a second bar located in the skylounge next to a games table. Another notable feature is the upgraded atrium, which features hand-blown glass and hand-sculpted metal light fixtures designed by US-based designer John Pomp.
According to BOATPro, Heesen currently has 10 yachts either in build or under construction, the largest of which is the 57-meter Project Setteesettanta.
This follows the announcement of the sale of another unit in its 55 Steel series, tentatively known as Project Venus. Read More/Heesen announces sale of 55m Project Venus.
