KAANAPALI (HawaiiNewsNow) – On Tuesday, four individuals were hurt when a commercial catamaran ran aground in the waters off West Maui.
Emergency responders arrived at Kaanapali Beach at approximately 7:15 p.m.
MFD reported that 53 individuals, consisting of 49 passengers and four crew members, remained on the vessel upon the firefighters’ arrival.
Four people were injured, with two being transported to a local hospital for further assessment.
The severity of their injuries is unknown.
Officials indicated that responders could not free the catamaran and handed the situation over to DLNR.
An investigation is currently underway.
