The Fountaine Pajot 41 marks the beginning of an innovative new range of catamarans from the La Rochelle-based shipyard, blending sustainability with advanced design.
With over 4,000 catamarans built in its 40-year legacy, Fountaine Pajot is celebrating its most successful year yet, reporting a turnover of €300m and announcing plans for two new factories to meet growing demand.
A great way to celebrate is by unveiling this 40-footer, which it describes as ‘a new entry-level choice for catamarans’. Developed over two years, the 41 also initiates an entirely new range for Fountaine Pajot.
The 41 will come with hybrid and solar power options. This includes two 25kW motors, two 21kWh battery banks, and 2,300W of solar panels – which can offer three to four days of autonomy or 12 hours of cooling, according to deputy CEO Romain Motteau. FP estimates that this vessel will emit 46% less carbon over its lifespan compared to a diesel-powered alternative.
The innovative design of the 41 includes:
- Increased draught for improved upwind performance
- Forward chined hull sections
- A carbon bowsprit for enhanced efficiency
Sustainability is central, with recycled PET foam and bio-based fabrics, aligning with Fountaine Pajot’s mission to reach net-zero emissions by 2050.
The 41 comes with a 150kg tender lift and an optional aft sofa that allows the cockpit to accommodate up to ten seats. Offered in three or four-cabin configurations, pricing starts at around €400,000, which FP highlights is about 15% lower than the current Isla 40 while providing significantly more yacht. The launch is scheduled for April 202I
