Fountain Powerboats will unveil an extreme edition of its 38 SCX sport console, catering to the poker run and sandbar enthusiasts during the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show.
The latest model features a newly designed deck while utilizing the well-known stepped-bottom hull design that has established the North Carolina manufacturer’s reputation.
“We aimed to include more features in the console for what we refer to as the poker run/sandbar crowd, providing a great stereo and an attractive paint scheme,” stated Jeff Harris, chief operating officer of Fountain Powerboats.
According to Harris, the 38 SCX is equipped below with a full-size bed, a foldable couch, and a head compartment that includes a shower and a ceramic toilet.
Fountain has revamped the arch-style hardtop to offer shade over the gunwales and has updated the glass windshield. The seating arrangement features two rows of stand-up bolsters with drop-down sections and bow seating. A full rear bench seat, a first for the builder, is part of the 38 SCX. A starboard dive door or steps over the transom ensure easy access to the cockpit.
“Many of our clients are boaters with family and friends,” Harris elaborated. “We’ve seen clients sell their ski boats and cruisers to transition to a center console, as it can accommodate up to 15 people, making maximum seating a priority.”
Fountain will provide the 38 SCX with Mercury Marine engines, ranging from triple 300-hp outboards to quadruple Mercury Racing 450R outboards. With 900-hp at its transom, the 38-footer is expected to reach speeds around 70 mph.
“This boat clearly exclaims that I’m a performance Fountain, and as I mentioned, it is the best-performing center console in its category by a considerable margin,” Harris remarked.
The 38 SCX (38’ 4” LOA, 10’ 6” beam) is equipped with a 425-gallon fuel tank and will have an approximate weight of 15,600 pounds. The new Fountain center console will be showcased on Performance Row at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, taking place from Oct. 26-30.
