Formula Boats has announced plans to introduce a lineup of center-console boats this fall, according to company president Scott Porter at the Miami International Boat Show.

At the event, Formula presented scale models of its Formula 387 Center Console Fish (CCF) and Center Console Sport (CCS), anticipated to debut at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show in October. This innovative new direction represents a natural evolution for Formula’s Crossover family. Designed for both anglers and day boaters, the boat marks a return to the brand’s heritage.

Porter mentioned that Formula offered center console boats in the 1970s but discontinued production in the early 1980s. The family still possesses a center-console boat from that era.

“We certainly heard inquiries about if we would produce a center-console boat,” Porter stated. “However, we assessed the company’s future direction and growth.”

With a base length of 38’ 7” and a beam of 12’, the 387s offer power options from Mercury and Mercury Racing, ranging from triple Mercury Verado 300s to triple Mercury Racing 450Rs or twin Mercury Verado 600 outboards. The latest creations of Formula’s exclusive designer, John Adams, the Fish and Sport series aim to deliver a premium, high-performing choice for the center console market and will unlock new opportunities for existing Formula boat owners.

The bluewater-capable 23° deadrise FAS3Tech hull forms the backbone of these high-performance offshore vessels. An elegantly sculpted, wide hardtop features multicolored LED lighting, a center ladder, and an access hatch, along with a compound-curved windshield equipped with power-opening forward glass and a washer/wiper system to enhance protection during canyon runs.

The Center Console Fish is engineered for catching fish. From custom-designed triple helm seats featuring folding armrests and an electronically adjustable center seat to dual 40-gallon pressurized live wells located at the rear, the fish boxes on the port and starboard sides come with optional freezer plates, as well as premium GEMLUX® outriggers. Just behind the helm, the impressive leaning post includes an aft-facing mezzanine bench that slides away to reveal a Corian countertop, a bait rigging station with a removable cutting board, and a molded sink.

Beneath are Plano tackle box organizers and fishing supply storage drawers, plus a pull-out YETI cooler on the port side and a motorized slide-out cooler with reFLEX decking. A dedicated fishing tool locker is located on the port side, along with a trash container, a fire extinguisher/paper towel locker on the starboard side, and in-floor storage with YETI buckets keeping everything organized and ready for use.

At the transom wall, the double-wide flip-down bench seat adds another seating option for enjoying the adventure, along with portside and transom doors facilitating easy access for catching fish or engaging in water activities. The open bow features a dual forward-facing sun lounge equipped with a center flip-up armrest and drink holders. Users can select between the in-floor fish box or bow seating package featuring a power-adjustable table.

The captain is provided with a standard electronics suite consisting of twin Garmin or Raymarine 16” widescreen color chartplotters accompanied by a depth sounder and a 1,000W CHIRP B175M transducer, Mercury DTS with a 7” SmartCraft VesselView, Mercury Joystick Piloting, and a Bennett trim tab system. A wealth of upgrade options, including radar and FLIR systems, are available, and everyone can enjoy the Rockford Fosgate stereo equipped with JL Audio speakers, alongside seven dual USB charging ports and up to 30 drink and rod/drink holders throughout the boat. Ample sidewall and cockpit deck storage is available, and standard washdown pumps and hoses are ready to keep pace with the action.

Comfort is paramount aboard the 387 CCF and CCS. Accessing the cabin through the portside console door, three Corian steps lead down to woodgrain flooring and a headroom of 6’ 4”. Key features include an Ultraleather U-shaped lounge with a dual-height table and filler cushion, a 32” LED/LCD HDTV, and a galley with open-grain or high-gloss finish cabinetry with a Corian countertop, concealing sink with a cover, stainless pull-out fridge and microwave, 8,000 BTU AC, and two opening portlights.

A molded private head compartment comprises a portlight, pressurized fresh water, a vanity with a Corian countertop, molded sink, shower, and a Vacuflush head, ensuring convenience for all-day outings and overnight adventures!

For those seeking a center console experience with a stronger focus on fun and entertaining, the 387 Center Console Sport provides the ultimate expression of crowd appeal.

The 387 CCS comes equipped with a bow seating package and a power-adjustable table as standard. Highlighting the aft cockpit centered around enjoyment, the hinged, double-wide ergonomic flip-down bench seat faces the leaning post, facilitating sharing and interaction. The spacious swim platform and trunk storage enhance the water fun experience for everyone. With a pullout cockpit fridge, beverage center, and pantry storage, entertaining becomes effortless.
