Grady-White has reimagined its dual-console Freedom 285, with a significant emphasis on the helm that features a new hardtop and an enlarged windshield.

The builder from Greenville, North Carolina stated that the redesign encompasses “from bow to transom,” incorporating various enhancements made to its models over time into the Freedom 285.

“We are thrilled to demonstrate to customers how our innovative engineering team has improved this outstanding boat through this redesign,” stated Shelley Tubaugh, Grady-White’s vice president of marketing, in a press statement.

This 28-foot vessel is favored by families due to its versatility for water sports, leisure activities, and fishing. Initially launched in 2012, this marks the first significant redesign of the twin-engine Freedom 285.

Designers concentrated on the helm, revamping the station to feature large flush-mounted electronics, switches positioned closer to the driver, expanded footrests, and enhanced ergonomics. The 285 boasts a new, taller and wider windshield offering enhanced protection.

Passengers will enjoy port and starboard electromechanical extendable aft-facing lounge seats, ideal for relaxing in either sun or shade, especially when the optional SureShade electrically retractable shade with Sunbrella fabric is installed.

The bow seating area can also be complemented by Grady’s new optional bow shade, an easily deployable screen providing sun protection. Equipped with a standard fiberglass bow table and optional bow insert with filler cushions to form a sun pad, the Freedom 285 is fully equipped for a day on the water. The optional retractable ski pole integrates seamlessly into the deck and can be conveniently stowed after water sports like skiing and tubing.

“The Freedom 285 is crafted to offer more than sufficient space for socializing and enjoyment, accommodating the whole family along with their gear for aquatic adventures. From diving equipment to fishing rods and skiing gear, this versatile boat has room for it all,” Tubaugh remarked.

For the enthusiastic anglers, the Freedom 285 includes a wealth of standard features, such as dedicated storage for two tackle trays, a 32-gallon insulated aft livewell with light, and two fish/ice boxes – one 118-quart located in the starboard bow and the other 185-quart situated aft. Furthermore, ample rod storage is available with holders for five rods on the deck, four rods integrated into the hardtop frame, and horizontal storage for three underneath the gunnel, plus lockable storage for an additional three rods in the head compartment. An optional outrigger kit enhances the boat’s fishing capabilities.

Add-on selections for the new 285 also include a wet bar with sink and optional refrigerator, a bow thruster, and a convenience package that consists of a battery charger and dockside power.

Grady-White Boats offers a range of 28 models between 18 and 45 feet. To explore the standard features and options for the Freedom 285, visit gradywhite.com.
