The 30.5-meter yacht The Admiral, built by Broward Marine, has sunk after a fire broke out while it was docked in Marina del Rey, California.
The LA County fire department responded to fire reports at 8:33 PM yesterday (September 18). Two individuals were on board at the time but managed to evacuate without any injuries.
Local reports indicate that the flames inside the yacht were resistant to the firefighters’ attempts to extinguish them, causing the vessel to quickly start listing. Authorities had to evacuate the area around 10:30 PM. As of now, The Admiral is nearly completely submerged.

The cause of the fire remains unconfirmed, although several eyewitnesses reported hearing fireworks explode.
The Admiral was delivered by US shipyard Broward Marine in 1986. The exterior design was completed in-house, while the interior was designed by the US-based studio Robin Rose. The yacht features accommodations across four cabins, including a master suite, all equipped with flat-screen televisions, entertainment centers, and en suite facilities. It was last listed for sale in 2018 with an asking price of $985,000.
