Evinrude staff dedicated their time to help clean the Milwaukee River.

Evinrude and Alumacraft collaborated to donate a boat and E-TEC engine to Milwaukee Riverkeeper to support the protection and restoration of Milwaukee’s waterways.

The inaugural trip of the boat was included in the on-the-water cleanup efforts by Evinrude employee volunteers during the 24th annual Milwaukee Riverkeeper Spring Cleanup event on April 27. The new boat was added to the fleet of Evinrude-powered vessels as volunteers collected trash and debris from the Milwaukee River.

This year marked the third consecutive time that Evinrude employees have volunteered for the annual Milwaukee Riverkeeper Spring Cleanup as part of the company’s Earth Day activities; however, it is the first occasion that Evinrude has contributed an engine and boat directly to Milwaukee Riverkeeper.

“We are honored to partner with Milwaukee Riverkeeper and support its Annual Spring Cleanup, as we believe in their mission and feel it is our responsibility to help care for our environment,” stated Tracy Crocker, president of BRP Marine Group, in a press release. “Evinrude is dedicated to ensuring our waters remain clean for future generations. As the cleanest engine available, an Evinrude engine is perfectly suited to support the essential efforts of Milwaukee Riverkeeper. We hope our donation will further promote Milwaukee Riverkeeper’s ongoing mission to restore and protect the city’s waterways.”

The boat and engine will be utilized to patrol the local waterways, assist the Milwaukee Riverkeeper team with sample collection, and monitor the waters for various contaminants, as well as provide tours of the river to highlight the organization’s initiatives to key donors, media, and community ambassadors.

“We are extremely thankful to Evinrude and Alumacraft for their support of our mission,” said Jennifer Bolger Breceda, executive director of Milwaukee Riverkeeper, in a statement. “Being on the river is crucial to our work. It allows us to understand what is affecting this resource and to connect people to the river. Having a boat and engine is essential; this donation is truly an ideal gift.”

Based in Sturtevant, Wisconsin, Evinrude offers a line of engines ranging from 3.5 to 300 horsepower.
