In the 2024 Sports Technology Annual Review and Power List released on Friday, Emirates Team New Zealand has been ranked #5 on the global Sports Technology Power List by The STA Group, which advocates for leading sports technology worldwide.
This report, featuring 100 of the world’s premier sports organizations, teams, apparel, leagues, broadcasters, and tech firms, examines technology’s impact and influence across every aspect of sport.
At the top of the list is the NBA, followed by the McLaren Formula 1 team, Apple, and AWS, with Emirates Team New Zealand ranking 5th ahead of 95 other giants in the sports tech sector.

Emirates Team New Zealand has experienced a hectic few years defending the 37th America’s Cup, achieving victory for the third consecutive time in October of this year and accomplishing a range of significant design and athletic milestones, including:
Hydrogen boats – Successfully designed, built, launched, and implemented hydrogen-powered foiling chase boats during the Louis Vuitton 37th America’s Cup event.
Wind powered land speed record – Created and established a new Wind-powered Land Speed World Record of 222.43 km/h with their land yacht ‘Horonuku’ driven by Glenn Ashby in Lake Gairdner, South Australia.
AC40 – Designed and developed the AC40 class, which won World Sailing Boat of the Year and served as the foundation for the Women’s and Youth America’s Cups in Barcelona.
AC Sailing E-Sports Game – Created and launched the AC Sailing E-Sports Game, utilizing the team’s in-house simulator and America’s Cup design tools.
America’s Cup winning AC75 – Developed and constructed the America’s Cup winning AC75 ‘Taihoro’, which claimed victory for the third time in a row in Barcelona.
