Nimbus Group has acquired center console manufacturer EdgeWater Power Boats and announced a strategic partnership aimed at increasing the Swedish builder’s presence in the U.S. market.
By acquiring EdgeWater Boats, Nimbus Group gains an established Florida builder with a portfolio of 15 models and a production facility in the U.S. Nimbus Group is composed of seven brands with manufacturing operations in nine locations across Sweden, Finland, and Poland.
The brands under Nimbus Group include Alukin, Aquador, Bella, Falcon, Flipper, Nimbus, and Paragon Yachts. These brands collectively produce 70 models that showcase Scandinavian design aesthetics.
“Nimbus Group is following a clear growth strategy, with expansion into the crucial North American market being foundational. The acquisition of EdgeWater enhances our brand portfolio with a strong and successful name,” said JanErik Lindstrom, president and CEO of Nimbus Group, in a statement.
“The U.S. powerboat market is the largest globally, and to bolster Nimbus Group’s expansion in the U.S. and enhance our North American presence, EdgeWater Power Boats provides an essential, experienced local organization and manufacturing capabilities on U.S. soil.”
Founded in 1992, EdgeWater Power Boats builds its vessels in Edgewater on Florida’s East Coast, offering center consoles and dual consoles that range from 15 to 37 feet. EdgeWater, along with its renowned engineer Bob Daugherty, aimed to create boats with inherently stable hull designs, which ultimately resulted in the innovative Single-Piece Infusion process.
This partnership, finalized in March, unites two well-established entities in the marine sector, enabling both brands to share resources and technology, according to company officials.
“Through this collaborative partnership, we will establish a high standard for boatbuilding,” said Jennifer Butera, president and CEO of EdgeWater Power Boats, in a statement. “Our companies are aligned in their commitment to sincerely serving our customers and their families. Nimbus Group is focused on growth, with limitless potential.”
In 2022, EdgeWater Boats sold over 300 boats, generating sales close to $48 million. Nimbus Group reportedly invested $9.5 million for the acquisition, which includes EdgeWater’s manufacturing property, with the deal expected to close by June.
