WILLEMSTAD – A Coast Guard helicopter successfully rescued a French man who suffered injuries on a catamaran late Friday night. The boat had become stranded on rocks near Hambrak on the eastern coast of Curaçao.

The incident was reported on Friday evening, leading the CITRO vessel to head towards the beached catamaran. While the volunteer crew managed to board the catamaran, they could not return to the CITRO vessel due to strong currents. As a result, it was decided to deploy a helicopter for the rescue mission. The evacuation went smoothly, with the injured Frenchman being airlifted to Hato, where ambulance personnel were waiting to transfer him to the Curaçao Medical Center (CMC) for further treatment.

The Coast Guard shared details of the operation over the weekend. A French man and woman were aboard the catamaran. The man had sustained injuries before the catamaran ran aground.
