The maritime industry is paving its path towards a sustainable future through innovative technologies and green energy, reflecting a commitment to environmental conservation and enhancing how humanity interacts with the ocean.
Cosmopolitan Yachts, a recently established yacht manufacturer from Spain, has taken advantage of the ongoing Cannes Yachting Festival to showcase a 125-foot (38-meter) hybrid solar-electric superyacht that combines luxury with sustainable engineering.Named the Cosmopolitan 125, this catamaran is marketed as a “marvel of luxury yachting” and stands as the largest in Cosmopolitan’s collection of multihull power yachts. Though this Barcelona-based shipbuilder has only been operational for three years, it has already distinguished itself by developing innovative catamarans with efficient electric propulsion systems.
Featuring a sleek, contemporary design that blends visual appeal with robust performance, the zero-emission vessel highlights the shipyard’s dedication to innovative design, sustainable methods, and redefining standards in eco-friendly boating.
Constructed from lightweight marine-grade aluminum, this catamaran combines durability with recyclability. It presents a stylish, modern exterior and, like its predecessors, includes a helipad alongside strong lines and expansive glazing.
The primary intent behind the design is to promote sustainable luxury. In addition to modern green technologies, such as an unparalleled hybrid solar-electric propulsion system that offers superior eco-performance and transatlantic capability, the vessel is built with environmentally friendly materials inside. While detailed specifications are forthcoming, the shipyard claims a cruising speed of 10 knots with zero emissions.

With an impressive internal volume of 500 GT, the Cosmopolitan 125 features almost 6,500 square feet of deck space. One of its key highlights is the next-generation, fully deployable beach club, complete with expansive foldable terraces extending over the water, transforming the yacht into a private beachside sanctuary for sunbathing, easy water access, or simply relaxing while enjoying picturesque views.Designed for utmost comfort and luxury, the interiors feature five staterooms, including four VIP guest cabins and a sumptuous owner’s suite with a private terrace on the main deck, while the crew accommodations are situated below deck. Spacious panoramic windows enhance the design, creating a seamless flow between inside and outside spaces while providing breathtaking ocean views for guests.
The yacht also includes spaces that promote social interaction, such as several al-fresco lounges, a large saloon with a TV and gaming area on the main deck, a sizable dining area, and a bar located on the upper deck.
According to the shipyard, the design can be customized to fit the owner’s preferences. For instance, the aft deck can be modified for tender storage instead of the spacious beach club, while the owner’s cabin can be placed on either the main deck or the bridge deck to ensure optimal privacy and panoramic sights.
Targeted at sailors looking to navigate the world’s waters without compromising luxury or comfort, the Cosmopolitan 125 exemplifies the future of responsible luxury yachting.
