The spacious Lagoon 60 catamaran provides various lounging areas, enhancing guests’ experience with its broad views and roomy feel.

Large new catamarans from mass-production shipyards currently appear well-positioned in the market. Lagoon, Fountaine Pajot, and Bali are all introducing or have recently unveiled their biggest models to date. The 60ft segment seems especially significant… and the flybridge catamaran at this length is truly impressive!

Lagoon’s design aim for the Lagoon 60 was to succeed the 620 model, of which 175 were built, presenting a slightly shorter yet superior design. Massimo Gino of Nauta Design invited me to relax in the cockpit facing backwards, before lowering the foldable bulwarks, revealing a stunning impression of space and expansive views.

The Lagoon 60 features a singular bridgedeck that flows seamlessly to the forward cockpit through a bulkhead door. With this door open and a large forward-facing window, the natural airflow is excellent.

The flybridge provides significantly more lounging area, although the boom is notably high. Unlike previous Lagoon models with masts positioned towards the rear and larger headsails, VPLP has relocated the mast to the forward. As the range grows larger and heavier, the mast base has been placed on the main bulkhead.

Sailing controls are fully electric, allowing a single crew member to manage the boat. The 60 is operated from a central pedestal, while joystick-style throttle and thruster controls are available on the port side for docking.

The spacious owner’s cabin at the starboard aft features a 1.8m wide crosswise berth and provides its own private secondary access directly to the aft deck and transom steps.

The sample boat’s layout includes a galley-down configuration, accessible via a gullwing door from the cockpit, and has a bar and dinette on the main level. The well-appointed galley also includes a generous mess area that crew members will appreciate.

However, basic crew accommodations are located in the forepeaks, where an additional cabin adjoining the galley would likely be appreciated by working crew on board.

The Lagoon 60 has its own dedicated manufacturing facility and production line, with an annual output capable of producing around 18 yachts. Prices start at €2,140,000 excluding VAT.
