At present, a single catamaran boat with a 50-passenger capacity has been delivered to both Kashi and Mathura. The Uttar Pradesh State Tourism Corporation anticipates the introduction of the new open-air catamarans, featuring a deck, pantry, and restrooms, allowing travelers to fully enjoy a memorable experience while positioning the state as a competitor to prominent water tourism locales like Kerala and Goa.
These catamaran excursions will enable visitors to experience the renowned spiritual sites of Mathura (the birthplace of Lord Krishna and a paradise for food lovers), Ayodhya (the birthplace of Lord Rama), and Kashi (or Varanasi, known for its intricately designed temples) from a fresh perspective.
In addition to catamarans, the IWAI has also allocated electric boats for Prayagraj. These new vessels are set to become operational after the monsoon season, including two mini-cruise boats (each seating 30 passengers), six motorboats, and two rescue boats. These vessels will enhance the tourist experience with picturesque river cruises in Uttar Pradesh’s most beloved cities.
Earlier this year, solar-powered boats were launched in Ayodhya, marking the first use of solar technology for inland waterways in India. The solar-powered boat, equipped with a rooftop solar panel, enables passengers to explore the picturesque Saryu River while absorbing the spiritual allure of Ayodhya.
