You can expect to see an increasing amount of information about the thrilling new Revolution R30 electric boat from the Blue Innovations Group. However, what struck me most at the Dec 16 launch in St. Petersburg, Florida, was the enthusiasm and dedication of the Blue Innovations Group team led by CEO and Founder John Vo. John aims to create a product that addresses environmental concerns while making boating more budget-friendly and enjoyable. The intuitive maneuvering controls and proprietary fully integrated large helm displays check many of the boxes for what boaters desire. I had the chance to discuss with Vo his vision to positively influence the boating industry along with connecting with numerous staff members and their families at the Dec 16 launch event. The enthusiasm, pride, and excitement were evidently palpable, indicating the company’s strong potential for success. 
Currently, the company has a working prototype but anticipates limited production and deliveries in 2024. Vo states that manufacturing capabilities will significantly grow when automated production with robots enables them to create a complete boat every 30 minutes or less. This is scheduled for 2025, with production remaining in the Tampa Bay area. 
The Blue Innovations Group asserts that the R30 will deliver the ultimate boating experience, emphasizing uncompromised safety, performance, style, value, and eco-friendliness. The R30 is a 30-foot electric cabin cruiser equipped with a 221 kWh battery pack, an 800 hp dual motor powertrain, an integrated UI, and solar charging capability. This innovative recreational boat offers an unparalleled experience, merging advanced technology with classic design. The R30 seamlessly integrates work and play areas through its connected capabilities, interactive features, and adaptable layout. This adaptability extends to the vessel’s controls and navigation, which are user-friendly and intuitive. The R30’s stern ocean terrace, paired with its silent, pollution-free propulsion system, allows customers to engage effortlessly with family and friends. “We designed the R30 from the ground up. We discarded the typical playbook most boat manufacturers follow because if you squint at a boat show, most boats appear the same,” Vo said. “The ‘R’ in R30 stands for Revolution; we aimed to create something radically innovative and significantly better.”

The R30 holds the distinction of being the first 30-foot electric day cruiser designed and manufactured in Florida. 
Customers will have the chance to secure an R30 for $1,000 with a Blue Reservation, which includes standard delivery, or for $5,000 with a BIG Reservation, granting access to one of the first hundred boats. BIG plans to initiate R30 deliveries in Q3 2024. “Since our debut at the 2023 Consumer Electronics Show (CES), we’ve encountered excitement not only among current boaters but also among non-boaters who feel that the R30 represents a long-awaited innovation,” Vo explained.
