At this year’s Cannes Yachting Festival, the Turkish shipyard Bering Yachts revealed a new 24-meter catamaran model called the BC80.
This yacht, measuring 24 meters, is the largest in its class, accompanied by the 18.9-meter BC60 and the 21.3-meter BC70. Owners can select from two layouts: the flybridge model and the solar-powered variant.
The flybridge version is described as offering a “more classic yachting experience,” featuring a generous 82-square-meter flybridge and 1,000 square feet of solar panels capable of producing over 20kW of energy on sunny days. As a result, the yacht can stay anchored for long durations without depending on generators.
Conversely, the solar-powered version caters to “the environmentally conscious adventurer” and includes an extensive solar panel setup, a high-capacity lithium-ion battery bank, and an advanced “kick-saving” system. This system greatly diminishes reliance on generators, allowing guests to enjoy silent cruising for up to 24 hours without operating the generators.
The BC80 boasts substantial interior space, supported by a wide 10.8-meter beam, providing guests with the “ultimate three-decker experience.” This includes a roomy main deck with 2.4 meters of headroom, a designated upper deck with flybridge options, and a cozy lower deck. For accommodations, owners can choose between four, five, or six cabins, including the option for a master suite on the main deck.
The standard layout positions a galley at the front of the main deck, while all guest accommodations are located in the sponsons (hull extensions) for enhanced privacy and noise reduction.
With a pair of Volvo Penta engines, the yacht can achieve top speeds of 15 knots and a cruising speed of 10 knots.
This announcement follows news that the steel hull of the 39.5-meter B125 model has been transported from Istanbul to Antalya for outfitting, with delivery expected in September 2024.
